WOW!! I didn’t follow the game last night, to be honest, I forgot all about it until a few minutes ago as I was checking some news/sports highlights. Really incredible, after the home loss I thought the Cavs would be tense and the Pistons pumped up at home. I don’t think anyone expected this.
Now it gets interesting. The prospect of a non-LeBron James Cavalier team in the finals is like a dream. Does anyone remember the Mark Price and Brad Daugherty teams of the 90’s or even Bingo Smith?? 😜😇

If Cleveland wins the NBA title this year (unlikely to beat OKC but you never know), how receptive or unreceptive would the Cavs and their fans be to having LeBron James sign with the team for next season as a homecoming for one year before he retires?
If I were a Cleveland fan I would not be receptive for him to return for one final year (given his track record of migrating from team to team during his career).
When LeBron James does end his playing career I envision it to be similar to when Barry Bonds retired from baseball. HIs final season (2007) ended with a whimper (as everyone was exhausted at the end and his final home game did not have any celebration).
I have no idea what Lebron might want to do, what Cavs management might want to do or how the fans would feel if he were to be signed. With his time in LA he has proven that he can play behind other players, that a team doesn't have to be built around him or play to him. Also, he has never been what anyone might term as a "bad teammate" so I don't think he'd be a distraction.
Whenever his career is over I do sort of expect him to sign one of those one-day contracts and retire in a Cavs uniform.

This past season has there been any player who has been effective (offensively; or defensively) against Wemby (i.e. keeping his defensive stats and/or his offensive stats below his season average)?
everyone talks about value. what does it mean? who has the most? if i had been a voter, I would not have cast mine for SGA. wonderful player, not the most valuable. Wemby affects games in more ways than any other player. the high-percentage shots he nullifies by his mere presence is tantamount to him scoring two points......every single time he does it.
then we have last night. what happened at the end of the first OT did nothing to change my mind.
half a minute left, OKC up 108-105 with the ball. San Antonio with one leg in the grave. if you're the true MVP, you seize that opportunity and bury the opposition.

SGA's teammate -- not him -- took a wild, off-balance floater that didn't sniff the rim. yo, where were you, Mr. MVP SGA?
then what happened?
the guy who would have received my vote pulled up from 27 feet at 7 feet, 5 inches and hit nothing but nylon to save his team. if that shot misses, and it probably does 8.5 times out of 10 on average, the Spurs die. but they didnt die because of the dude who flashed his value.
but, SGA & Co. still had time to hit the game winner. the supposed MVP had another opportunity to flash his.

SGA drove to the rack and the Spurs collapsed on him the way they had all night long. he was forced to defer to the teammate who jacked up the crap shot the previous time down the floor. and Williams missed again. then the Spurs took them out in double OT.

Cavs/Knicks playing a close game. New York had stretched a lead but Cleveland came back nicely in the last few minutes. The game will probably be won by whoever comes out hot in the second half.

Kenny Atkinson and James Harden. Atkinson let NY go on an 18 - 0 run before he called a timeout! Harden playing 42 minutes, chucking up shots, and played no defense in the 4th.

G6 they go back home looking to close out the series. they get blown out. G7 they go back to Detroit. they blow them out. then last night they get outscored 44-11 over the last 12 minutes and 45 seconds and lose G1 to New York. and their coach called a grand total of one timeout during the onslaught, with two in his hip pocket.

Only thought that comes to mind is the league/sports books want to keep the bettors on an uneven keel so bettors bet both sides increasing the action.

when you don't have home-court advantage in a series, obviously you can't advance without winning a game away from your own house. and in a 7-gamer, you only have 4 cracks max to do so. when you're up 22 with 7:40 left in the opposition's crib, it goes without saying that that's the game. there will be no better opportunity. if you choke that one away like it's no one's business, you're basically cooked. that's a psychological lashing that's almost impossible to overcome. and they looked the part last night. just completely demoralized after what happened two nights earlier. now they have to win 4 out of the next 5, including at least one in New York, and that is not going to happen.
someone needs to pay for the epic G1 meltdown that, for all intents and purposes, ended things right then and there. and that someone needs to be the coach. calling only one timeout during that ambush -- as well as not getting Harden off Brunson -- is very deserving of a pink slip. the Beard has never been a good defender, and honestly i felt sorry for him that night. he had no chance and needed to be switched. nah, let's not call timeout to curb the momentum and let's keep a statue on a guy who is scoring at will. absolutely brilliant in-game adjustments by Atkinson. so brilliant that it ended his team's season.
