1931 Ireland VIP Proofs

Picked up this set recently and while I can find reference to farthings and one penny i can find no reference to any of the silvers aside from sets in the British Museum. This set came from New Zealand which is not uncommon as set with exchanged across the commonwealth. These coins usually have mintages of under 10, with the earlier sets likely less.

Guess I’m collecting these now! The hunt begins.

Congrats! An incredibly rare set for sure. Ireland continues to be such a tough, underappreciated area of numismatics.

Sounds like an interesting research project. The Irish Society had a presentation on these a few months ago that mainly discussed how they came about and the initial designs that were considered. It did not go into mintage figures. Gook luck with these.

Not 1931 but I've always had a few Irish proofs around. They tone so beautifully. Sorry for the crappy photos.
