Can search results be sorted by date?

Can Search Results be sorted by date?

I did a thread on the search stuff (not to popular ) I had found and has some information that might help.
For a search with a 'description' I did not see a way to sort by date. However, can limit the date range (which works +/-) and incrementally change it to narrow it down by date groups.
