Finding lost coins

We had a mention in today's Bible study of the parable of the widow and the lost coin. I mentioned how when I decided to replace a big sofa, still regretting the loss of a $5 Indian gold coin that I dismembered the sofa, out near the dumpster, turning it upside down to disgorge any coin that might be in it. No luck with that. How do you avoid losing coins? I think of times that coins in the car fell down being hard to retrieve underneath the car seats or between them.

I lose my pocket pieces regularly. They usually turn up again, sometimes years later, in places where i wouldn’t expect them to be.

I've dropped coins where I was lucky it didn't fall somewhere from which it could not be retrieved or would have been difficult to retrieve but never lost a coin of any importance to me.
Lost coins are usually next to the TV remote.

I’ve misplaced my loupe. I have no idea where it could be. It’s been missing for months.

I think I lost a so called dollar (HK19) behind my safe. Bolted to the floor and no way to even shine a light behind it to see. Guess the new owners that remove the safe, when I sell, will be thrilled.

I surprised someone hasn't mentioned the coin dealer who occasionally posts here who accidentally threw away a slabbed $4 gold Stella which now resides somewhere in a landfill.

I almost had a 1964 SMS dime fly out of my car once on the way to work. Had the windows open, and the priority envelope flew up into the wind and luckily hit the dash instead of flying south for the winter.

But we all know that these coins don't exist anyway, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world now would it?

If it weren’t bad enough that it happened to you but now you have to keep reliving it every time one of these threads pop up!
I would go crazy!! 😉

That's why I have three -- two hide but I can always seem to find the third one. All identical.
And I'm giving my 2026 Red Book to my nephew, getting myself a Large Print edition, maybe that 10% off coupon will be useful on it.
Beautiful Walkers by the way, first time that I looked at your registry set.
I wonder if that coin would show up after it goes through his town septic and waste processing? Do metals get separated after the bacteria and chemicals have broken down what they can? I flushed a 40% Kennedy by accident recently when I was combining cleaning with a dip of the half dollar.
Thank You!😊

Your half dollar probably will just sit on the bottom of a pipe somewhere. I lost a gold coin as well, and every time the price of gold goes up $500, I look another couple hours
Many years ago I bought an 1797 large cent and somehow, (I either can't remember or just don't want to admit to the stupidity) it got lodged between the dash of my Buick and the windshield. I knew it was there and sort of just thought it was irretrievable. One day the car was parked in front of the store where I worked and business was slow, so I messed around with a ruler, a pencil and some bubble gum and got it out. I sold it last year and replaced it with a slabbed one. This one so far, has proven to be harder to lose.
Yes, I have an old 3X Bash & Lomb that I have become quite attached to. I'd hate to lose it.
