What “Generation” is This PCGS Holder?

GuzziSportGuzziSport Posts: 530 ✭✭✭✭✭

I’ve looked at a few of the sites dedicated to documenting the various versions of holder and I don’t see this one… it’s an 8 digit cert number so I wouldn’t think this is an old holder?

It is probably this one or related to it. At the link and then click the second icon of the four. PCGS has done some special and retro labels.

Looks like a newer PCGS holder to me. The 8-digit cert number and gold shield suggest it’s from the last 10-15 years. PCGS has made small design changes over time, so if you’re not seeing an exact match online, it could be one of the newer versions. A full slab photo might help narrow it down.

Yeah, looks like second from left on that page. Thank you.

@Deathstar_69 thanks, it’s from an active eBay item, I thought it might be bad form to show the entire slab, I don’t want to have the forum posting police to jump ugly on me.

    Reference

Based on the timing of the "throwback" labels, this holder is likely a Museum GEN 6.0S (MAY 2015 - OCT 2020).

It's the Retro-Doily made in the last decade, but is now retired. Folks could submit coins during a several year period and request a Retro-Doily or Retro-OGH holder instead of the current holder. I don't recall them being that popular.

35th anniversary retro labels, ca. 2021.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

I kinda liked them. I had a Morgan in one of those retro doily holders like the one pictured above. I still have this one paying tribute to the OGHs.

Here's an '07 $2.50 Liberty in an OG 'tribute' holder. It's not a bad look. My only one of those...

Edit, oops, I just saw the other OGH thread, oh well.
