    It’s an “unreasonable facsimile” of the real thing. The design details are not quite right.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible.     I believe that some of the restrikes of this variety have a reeded edge. This piece has the eagle flying level which is the mark of a restrike.

    Still, the rest of the piece is bad.

    Amazing that the seller even shows the edge as reeded. Interesting, but then PCGS does list the edge as reeded and photo shows that it is not. This is certainly not my cup of tea, but love the design and besides price coin looked off.

    I decided that as the seller made me an offer of $68 for this phony, I would make a counteroffer of $6.88 and did so. Probably, will not hear back. :D
