Probably not a great market for Casas. Hes going to be average and get hurt a lot and when hes not busy missing games hell be talking down players in his organization.

There are a bunch of teams that need a bat but a lot of the teams have at least one player with a contract big enough to say no to someone they think would be a cancer.

Valdy isnt necessarily leavening the Blue Jays, the Jays just arent going to get a discount which they want. They waited to long to try and extend him and Vlady gave them a fair market value number which they wouldnt meet so now hes going to go to free agency

Given that the Jays are in win now mode and signed Mad Max and Santander its unlikely they will trade him unless they fall out of contention. Its especially unlikely they would trade him within the division without some massive over payment in return. A lot of front offices have that dumb I wont trade within the division mentality unless they get something extra instead of just taking the best deal offered to them.

I gotta admit, I agree with 'most' of what's been posted in this thread. At the same time, none of us have ever been or will ever be in their shoes. Additionally, what is the average of the individuals posting in this thread - I am in my 50's, what is the average age of the players we are talking about - mid to late 20's? Times have changed and realistically, like it or not, it's the players who will ultimately determine who plays where - clubhouse atmosphere, on field performance, team-mate pressures (with the help of the unrelenting media, I guess) will hopefully sort this out. Baseball in Boston is NEVER without some sort of drama, we all know that.

Players do have a say for sure, but its still pretty rare for a player to be a complete jerk about it. Trout is moving to RF this year, Tatis JR moved to RF where his speed and cannon of an arm plays better, Bogi played 2nd for the Padres for a while, Altuve is moving to LF, Valdy Jr moved from 3rd base to 1st, Betts was originally a 2nd baseman, Bregman was originally a SS. Harper moved to first, Machado was a SS that was blocked by Cal Jr, Arod moved to 3rd even though he was way better than Jeter and so on

Usually when you hear a player not want to change positions its a starting pitcher that doesnt want to be moved to the bullpen. Its very rare for a player that has already gotten the massive contract to be so opposed and its even more rare for a player like Casas to be so vocally selfish and he probably isnt going to have a long career

If Casas keeps licking the red off of Red Sox management, he's gonna be on the block soon. I think he's suffering from delusions of grandeur, he isn't that good at 1st base. I really do question a guy with red painted finger nails and white painted toe nails, might as well start wearing a kilt to round out the outfit. He's simply seeking attention, but by doing so, he may be torpedoing his career. Shut the pie hole and play the game.

    Guerrero would be perfect.

Knowing Topps they may create a card of him displaying his painted nails.

Tristan Casas continues to open his pie hole and voice his opinion of signed Red Sox players and what positions they should or shouldn't play. He must think he's the self-appointed Public Affairs Officer of the Red Sox. He should rethink his commentary to the press, which, at this point is adding more drama to the daily soap opera that is already ongoing. He will soon become persona non grata as he continues to shoot himself in the foot. Better he focus on what shade of finger nail polish he will sport this season. This ego crap has a tendency to bite long term.

Bregman continues to take the high road and is the grownup in the room with his I'll play where Cora tells me.

Much credit to Bregman on his attitude. Can only hope it rubs off on the other malcontents.

    And now it begins!

Being a mal content generates trade rumors. The attached link indicates Devers, who appears to be in trade rumor conversations and not being a team player, could end up a long way from Fenway.

Hint to Casas, you ain't such a big hot dog at 1st base and you could be easily traded as well. Best to keep you pie hole shut and do as the manager tells you, or...

Casas could easily just end up back in the minors or being cut, he hasnt even reached arbitration yet.

Devers getting traded will be super complicated. Either Boston has to eat a ton of money or they have to find some big and or bad contracts to take on.

Ryner suggesting Seattle would trade Castillo for him and also throw in a top prospect is just filling space and getting clicks. Theres been no umors of it and Seattle would have to be blown away to move Castillo. Something with trading him for Arrenado could be possible if Boston will eat enough money and could maybe get Contreras and Gray to as part of eating the money since both are expensive and at the end of their careers with the Cards going into tank mode

Now the chirping is that the Red Sox may try to acquire 1st baseman Anthony Rizzo as the Yankees declined and offered him a $6m buyout, making him a free agent. At the age of 35 he may not be Speedy Gonzalez, but if memory serves, he's a 4-time gold glover. With $6m already in his account, the Red Sox could get him for a relatively small investment while they try to move the mosquito in the room, aka Casas.

From a highly respected announcer in Boston, Tony Massarotti...

Triston Casas should have probably kept his mouth shut in the midst of chaotic positional turmoil within the Red Sox clubhouse.

Boston radio host Tony Massarotti said this week that Red Sox first baseman should “shut his pie hole” regarding the now controversial signing of Alex Bregman, which has caused a major stir over who will play third base.

“Shut your pie hole. Shut your pie hole. This guy knows everything. I’ve been saying this for a couple of years. He knows everything. He’s got the answers to everything. He knows it all,” Massarotti said. “He knows, again, he goes through his deliberate routine in the batter’s box, don’t you know? Get in a certain time, every time, counts the pitch clock down, gets ready to go. When he fields a ball in a certain situation, he’s already done all the calculations in his head — even if he makes the wrong decision and tries to get the wrong guy out at third base when there isn’t a force play involved.”

Earth to Tristan...looks like your stupidity may find you looking for a new nail salon for your manicures and pedicures.

At least Rizzo has a proven tract record. He is still a very productive 1st baseman at 35 years old which the Red Sox have not had in years. Just think of Vlad Guerrero for next year if ownership wants a great team.

He had a .637 OPS last year. He's completely washed up.

I am not impressed with what I have seen so far with the 2025 Red Sox.

You know these are just invitees, with a pinch of starters to wow the crowd. Keep the faith, maybe than can prove me wrong and excel this season. I think all the angst about the 3rd base position and Casas' opening his pie hole have added to the drama not needed at this time of year. Cora et al should have had this issue covered b4 they inked Bregman and nipped it all in the bud. Maybe Casas will find himself gone b4 season's end. Not a smart move to kinda show up management if you are planning to make a career with the team...Casas is so expendable. So weird that he uses nail polish on all 20.

Nail polish isnt the thing to be worried about with Casas. A lot of pros use it on their toes to protect from infection and fungus. Maybe I missed it but unless hes getting fancy with it like Caleb its not an issue. Hes had plenty of injuries, dumb statements, and expendable play that are the bigger issues.

But yea its to early to really be worrying about play. Theres a month of spring training left unless youre the Dodgers or Cubs and most guys will be sent back to the minors

MLB really needs to stop having "opening day" in Japan a week before everyone else

My thing with Casas has nothing to do with "worry", just an observation. I do think it odd that wearing bright red finger nail polish and wearing white polish on his toe nails is just very, very weird. I also think that if Casas doesn't keep his opinions of other Red Sox players and implicating how management does or does not handle situations, he will at some point be either sent down, or traded. To be so incredibly fortunate to have enough skills to become a MLB player does not give one the license to muddy the water. He needs to keep his mouth shut and play as best he can.

Flying to a down under destination, or far East can be grueling. Its like the flight that never ends, the Pacific ocean just goes on and on and on. How they expect players to perform well after a 15 hour adventure in the sky, + customs is crazy.

He definitely has too big a mouth on him.
I have heard him interview others while he was out last year and he thinks his sh-t doesn't stink.
He may or may not work out to be a good player but he hasn't showed much yet except hit a few balls for distance, Most times he just strikes out.
