Man the Sam's Warehouse Club stickers on those 1987 boxes takes me back. I remember just about making Sam's a second residence back in '87 trying to pick up those boxes.

It was a crazy week for the Brian McCann collection. I'll go months without seeing a low number McCann and then a pile of them show up the same week. I don't remember seeing the McCann Chipper McClouth auto before.

I agree! I have found that there are a number of collectors today that weren't in the hobby at that time who have no idea the significance of the wrap and the SWC stickers. Yes, they can be faked, I guess, but if you are familiar enough with them and the "zipper seal", it's almost like buying a BBCE wrapped FASC box, for much, much less money.
Made a return trip to the LCS this afternoon. Grabbed this Stadium Giveaway Salvador Perez bobblehead of him blowing a bubble, and then bought some more junk era wax boxes, and some oddball Topps issues. I've had several boxes of the 1988 Topps American Baseball before, but this is my first box of 1989s. The box is an X-out and pretty beat up, but the packs are still in great shape. I haven't decided their fate, whether they'll remain sealed or a fun rip later.

One more for the Griffey basic set. Up to 215/221. #215 is on its way... #214 is below. Taken years, but getting close.. Black and red borders are a killer on this one.
Added these 2 to my obscure 1993 Ted Wiiliams Co . set . The Gibson came recently but I neglected to add it to the set . The Dotty Kamenshek arrived today .

Grades popped yesterday on the Mantle.
I picked up several of these Oddball sets at the Goodwill.
Very few have been graded, so I cherry picked (2) Mantles and (1) Mays in for grading.
The Mantles both disappointingly got 8s, but the Mays got a 10 POP 1!
My last few subs from the 80s special last fall are winding through. These were the best on the ones out today. The rest were mostly 8s... (really liking that Seaver)
These just popped today. Very happy with the results. Submitted just 8 so like the hit rate. I was surprised the other 3 were two 8s and a 5. Thought they all were pretty similar. The plastic can peel off on the back so maybe something like that. But cant complain.
Had always loved these since collecting them as a kid but just never got around to submitting for grading until now. Will probably submit some more over time but these were mostly the rookies that justified the grading costs. Others will be more PC.
I opened up one of the 88 Topps Football sticker boxes that I picked up last week. Both boxes were X-out boxes, so I wasn't sure what to expect.
You can press the top of the packs to see whether it is a full panel sticker or a dual panel sticker, but that's about all you can determine. You can press the back of the wrapper and see who the player is on the sticker "card", but you would have to know the variations of the various sticker front/card back combos, and even then it's a crapshoot.
At 7 stickers a pack, an even collation would produce just shy of 2 of each sticker in the set. I did pull 2 of Bo Jackson and 2 of Brian Bosworth, but only one Christian Okoye sticker, which would have been the big rookies in the sticker set at that time. Okoye showed up frequently on the card backs. To my knowledge, Jackson and Bosworth only had stickers, and no card backs.
I did not get a single Marino sticker, but quite a few of his card backs. I believe that is the only big star that I struck out on entirely. I did get 3 and 4 of others, so it was not close to an even collation, but again, it was an X-out box.
.
The top pic shows a full panel sticker through the wrapper, with the continuous football border clearly showing. The bottom pic shows the football border being broken near the top center of the pack.

I chuckled a bit that they did Elway dirty. His card back is one of the variations for the Doug Williams sticker. Williams, of course, was the Super Bowl MVP over Elway's Broncos. I did get one of the Marcus Allen stickers with the Marcus Allen card back. To my knowledge, he's the only player where it is possible to have a match.
Mike Singletary and Paul Palmer are indignant about something! Lol

I also already shared that I bought a 1989 Topps American Baseball X-out box last week. The box is supposed to have 48 packs. Only after purchasing did I discover that this box had 50 packs. So I thumbed through until I found one with Brett showing on the non-gum side, and opened it.
These are 5 card packs with a tiny stick of gum that had welded to the card next to it. Both these and the 1988 Topps American Baseball were sold for 12p in Great Britain. I believe when I looked this up quite awhile ago, the exchange rate in the late 80s would have made that equivalent to roughly about 20 cents.
This is a pic of the box. It was pretty beat up.
.
.
This is a pic of one of the 5 card packs. They are cellophane type wrapper that makes it easy to see the front and back cards. The gum is on the front card, though.
.
.
Here's the Brett.
.
.
And here is the gum welded to Mike Marshall next to a regular sized Topps card for scale. You can see a few black spots on the gum. When I was finally able to separate the gum from the card, the side next to the card was heavily discolored with black and brown spotting. I hastily threw it away in disgust before thinking to take a pic. Lol

A member asked, what price did the 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie SGC-7.5 sell for? Session 1 closed tonight...and the card sold for $91,500. The 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie SGC-7 sold in late January for $73,200, which I won. Here are the two (2) cards again.
Notice the registration difference between the two (2) cards around the bat, cap, NY insignia on the cap, and his mouth where there is a magenta color.
Both beautiful cards but since you asked…. to my eye the 7.5 has big borders and the centering makes it the better card. Both could easily be graded higher.
The culmination of 5 months of sifting through vending cases produced some nice gems from 1989 OPC baseball I recently got back from PSA. Here are some of the highlights. The Jefferies is a pop 3.
Picked up another card for my Dwight Evans Master Set . I'm not sure if they will add it to the main Master set without it being "optional " , but a cool card nonetheless .

Dang. Nice Bob. I was thinking it looks like a nice 9. Is there magic marker or ketchup on the back?

Picked up a 1933 Goudey for my Cubs PC.
...and this one. Not sure why PSA chose this holder. It floats around. I know they have holders with better rails to hold '33 Goudeys.
I have taken a liking to 1933 Goudeys….nice pickups Chicago1976!
I’m looking to add a Ruth from his playing days….hello 1933 Goudey #144.
Added these 2 to my obscure 1993 Ted Wiiliams Co . set . The Gibson came recently but I neglected to add it to the set . The Dotty Kamenshek arrived today .

I know the centering is a bit off T to B but this card has pack fresh everything else. Corners are razor sharp. i grabbed it.

Centering is bit nicer on the 7.5 but the registration is off as you mentioned. Seeing them side by side IMHO the 7.0 displays significantly nicer!

A few modern pickups and a value pickup on the 76 Brett for around $40.

More 80s coming through. I got a lot of 7s/8s but these were some of the 9s.
Another pretty tough 1973 common…
Picked up another card for my Dwight Evans Master Set . I'm not sure if they will add it to the main Master set without it being "optional " , but a cool card nonetheless .
Another Cub for the collection. "Wildfire" Schulte had a cool nickname and won the NL MVP in 1911.
Best offer accepted! On its way.
Trying to decide if I want to tackle a graded 1948 Bowman set.
Great looking Feller!
I picked up a couple more of the Topps cut autos this week. The American Treasures cuts are some of the most beautifully designed cards ever imo.

Wow, that Helen Keller auto is sick! Nice pickup!!
Thanks! These are awesome!
I wanted a nice Hogan auto for my Mount Rushmore of wrestling
