**Guess what's in the Piggy Bank Giveaway. **WINNER ANNOUNCED**
I was going through some old boxes a few months back and found this old piggy bank. I was born in 1970 and my Grandma gave this to me sometime in the mid 1970's. The bank is full and I've never opened it, so I have no idea what is in it. Guess the date of the oldest coin and the newest coin in the bank. The closest guess will win a 1 ounce silver round. In the event of a tie, the first guesser will win a silver round and the second guesser will win a 64 Kennedy half. Good luck. The contest will end at 6:00 PM on 1/29 and I will post the results shortly thereafter. I'll determine the winner as follows. If your guess of the oldest coin is 3 years off and your guess of the newest coin is 5 years off, you will have a score of 8. Lowest score wins.

Just for clarification. The bank was empty when she gave it to me. I put all of the coins in it from the time I received it until it was full.

Just curious. What is the bank made of (metal, or something else). Further, how old was your grandmother when she gave the empty bank to you? And did your grandmother also give you some OLD COINS of hers at or near the time she gave you the bank (and if so did you put any of those coins in the bank)?
it's made of metal and looks like it was antiqued with copper plate. I was somewhere around 5 or 6 years old when she gave it to me. I started collecting coins when I was 8 or 9.

Okay, the contest is closed. Here are the results:
Group shot of the coins. Every year of memorial cent was represented from 1959 to 1980. 1974 had the most coins by far. The oldest coin was a 1956 wheat cent. Newest were 8 1980 Memorial cents. All of the coins were U.S. Cents besides 3 dimes, one nickel and 3 Canadian cents. By my calculations, Dan Carr is the winner with a score of 2. Thanks for playing. PM me your address Dan or I could just run across town and give it to you.
