Two Regrades Upgraded

I recently sent three coins for regrade along with two sets getting pedigreed....

1978-P Ike MS66 ==>MS66 (Rats!)
1880 3CN PR65 ==>PR65CAM (Felt the CAM was a sure thing, hoped to also get 66)
1930 SLQ MS64FH ==>MS65FH (Yeah... paid $279!)
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

    Brian,

    Nice upgrades...on the Ike that didn't make what's the pop in 67 anyhow?

    Congratulations! Do you (or does anyone else) have a perception that regrade requests tend to be more successful when combined with a request to pedigree the set the coins are in? Stated otherwise, is PCGS more generous if they have knowledge that the coins they are regrading are going to be included in a top set?

    Great work Brian! I have turned it into a hobby by itself and I see the grade change more erratically from crack outs. But they do usually give you 1 or 2 on a regrade, it seems if you throw 4 or 5 sure things out there.
  • It is nice to hear good news! Congrats.

    Nice shoot!

    Kudos to you.That is great.I have (2) coins that I and others feel have a shot at a higher grade,but I've been reluctant to try because of PCGS's harsh gradeing of the Lincolns lately.BTW They are Proof Lincolns.

    All,
    Checked my record on where these coins were from.

    3CN was from DLRC - paid GS ask.
    SLQ was from NorthEast Numismatics (e-bay B-I-N) for $275 Post from SLQ Purchase
    Ike was my own... I had pulled it from a mint set and got the original 66 grade.

    As to if they are easy when with a pedigree... I can't say. I was pretty selective in what I was going to spend $30 on. The two sets I sent in had 66 coins total, and I only picked three for re-grade.

    Don't usually get the good news from PCGS. Just the bad news when someone is not happy with the grading that they got.

    Congratulations!
