What would you grade this 1936-D Quarter?

The obverse looks AU and revers MS. I'll say AU58.
AU58+ or MS61.
Probably worth about the same either way.
AU 55, hairlines and loss of luster in the fields suggest the coin circulated a bit

I was thinking ms60 to 62.
I'd be surprised if it made a 63 or higher.

I could see this as having been graded MS64 by NGC, although it is not a particularly attractive coin.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
MS63, just my opinion, I could be wrong
If you guessed AU58 You were correct! Not sure if its worth sending in for regrading for MS? or Just Cac stickering it.
The coin looks obviously AU to me, so I don’t think it merits regrading.

Getting it cac stickered? Im trying to start a collection of washington quarters, I will upgrade as I go when I can afford more pricier higher grades
I could be persuaded either way on that. However, if you are going to submit it to CAC, I’d wait until you have several submissions and ship all of them together.

The 36-D is a tougher date in MS. The one pictured illustrates enough signs of handling that 58 is as good as it gets. A CAC sticker will not change the grade and the law of diminishing returns applies. Instead save the submission fee and use that towards the purchase of a coin you need.

AU58 seems fair, and the coin looks better and more original in the full slab photos than the original post.
Personally, I’d submit it to CAC, but with a batch of other coins as @MFeld suggested. Based on your posts, you’re trying to become more educated on this series and a 40% shot at stickering plus the opportunity to learn on the pass/fail would make it worthwhile IMO. You can request CAC provide a reason if the coin fails to meet their standards.
For some of the 1930’s issues, a nice appealing AU58 can be a tremendous value. Most of my set is 66-67, but I proudly have a 58+ in the key ‘32-d slot. I bought it at a show and sent to CAC and it came back beaned. It has the look of a 63-64 for a literal fraction of the price, and I can put the $2k-$3k saved towards other pursuits.
AU58+ CAC
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Thanks for the insight, and yes I plan on sending in my 32-D which is a AU53 with it and a handful of others in the future! Regarding Cac Stickering, from my understanding its not a membership but rather sending it into a place that is a dealer recognized under cac? Also nice toning on the 32 D!
