I am truly saddened to learn that John (dizzyfoxx) passed away on 06/19/2022 at the age of 55. I first met John and his dad at the Santa Clara Coin Show in 2005. He likely purchased his first nicely toned PCGS MS66 Antietam from me, and since then, we met many times to show, discuss, buy, sell, and trade beautifully toned commemoratives. He had a deep love and appreciation for these coins. John was an incredibly kind man who always brought his huge smile with him. He will be deeply missed and will remain forever in my heart.

sad news
I recall he had a reddish Canadian dime as his avatar?
I used to enjoy his auctions/listins on eBay.
I am sorry he is now gone and even more so his lack of a presence here wasn't noticed for 2.5 years.
55 is way too young. May he RIP.
That’s terrible news. 55 way too young. May he rest in peace.
Here’s his Antietam Commemorative from when I used to help him edit his coin images back in the day

Wow! This is really sad news. I remember him well and recall he purchased an absolutely smashing Capped Bust half dime from me in a PCGS MS64/CAC holder that I had previously purchased directly from Michael Luck (@michael) in 2006. Sadly, Michael also passed away in mid-2019. Later, I purchased a terrific 1838 RE half dollar in a PCGS AU55 OGH from John and it subsequently received a gold CAC sticker. I had many conversations with him via PM and assumed he was taking an extended leave from the boards.
RIP, John (@dizzyfoxx)
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
@dizzyfoxx avatar was this:
He kind of gravitated to the sports card forum at the end, but we will remember him on the US Coin forum for his enthusiasm in the hobby.
Rest in Peace

I remember him as someone who liked to buy exceptionally attractive coins. Never met the man. Sorry to hear this.
What's disconcerting to me is I know a number people who are younger than I am - sometimes much younger - who are no longer with us, or are gravely ill.

"Sou Mangueira......."
I remember that username quite well.
He left MUCH too soon.
Sad news. May he RIP.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I could not believe that John was still active on the day he passed.
Sad to hear of his passing. He also had a passion for higher end golden age comics, particularly DC's of the 1940s. Not sure of what all he liked in sportscards but I can guess it was classic prewar material vs. shiny modern refractors. Suffice to say, I think our tastes were very similar, though his wallet was definitely heavier! RIP to him.
John also collects T206 cards, a tobacco card set issued from 1909 to 1911 in cigarette and loose tobacco packs through 16 different brands owned by the American Tobacco Company. He got me interested in collecting T206 cards as well and even purchased a relatively rare Carolina Brights back card.
As I thought, rare back T206's would be right in his wheelhouse. RIP John.
We talked about toned commems on several occasions, but I assumed he had taken a break from collecting. It's really quite unsettling to lose people like him, Broadstruck, Bruce Scher and others fellow collectors who are so young.

Dkes anyone know his last name? Can someone provide a link here to the obituary?

“I tried very hard to avoid sharing detailed information on a public forum, as I cannot control who might read it.”
He was a good guy, he bought coins from me and also sold me this 1862 seated dollar grade XF45 by PCGS which completed my run of original 1860s seated dollars. I promised him if I ever decided to sell it that I would give him first right of refusal. I never got the opportunity to honor that promise, but I will never forget him whenever I look at this seated dollar, which is still one of my absolute favorites.

Damn! Did not know this happened and close to 3 years ago. We corresponded off and on via PMs, and knew he had an eye for good stuff. Plus he was complementary on what I was collecting. Gone far, far too soon.
RIP, Dizzy 😢

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
