Hi folks. I was hoping to find out if this penny is valuable besides 1 cent. 🙂
It showed up out of nowhere the other day quite honestly. You probably wouldn't believe me if I told ya how lol. Anyhow I'm hoping it's rare. Thanks!

Well, more than one cent but not by much, maybe 3 or 4 cents! Wheat cents are always fun to find. Welcome to the forum.

There are 1,600+ 1951-D cents available on eBay right now. How could you hope that they are rare? There's nothing special about a circulated 1951-D cent; we'd believe you if you said you found it in a parking lot.

We don't know what coins you're talking about, but the simplest explanation is usually the best, which is that you are confused about what you've seen.

    Worth its weight in copper.
Can you show us links where they SOLD for thousands, not what shysters are asking for them.

    Thank you.
Not sure about validity but this one on eBay. I searched 1951D wheat penny on eBay, there's several. Not sure if I'm missing something.
Guess I missed the SOLD part.

That is the key. Sellers ( shysters ) can ask whatever they want for a raw coin up to $2500.00.
There are hundreds of overpriced coins listed everyday on eBay and esty.
They are hoping that there is that one unsuspecting buyer out there that will fall for their scam.

  • Thank you much.

The type of listings that I just keep scrolling by.
Not worth my time to view.

That coin is worth the same as your coin, i.e., about $0.03. Your coin is actually nicer than this coin.

Ignore their seller rating, drpepsi is a bona fide crook when it comes to selling coins.

If you're interested in coins, I'd suggest buying a Redbook and reading it before buying or selling anything. Otherwise, crooks like mrpepsi will sell you a coin literally worth 5 cents for $1920.00, down from $12,000. At $12K, that's 240,000 TIMES its actual value. One would be trading 240,000 nickels for one nickel. It's ridiculously crooked.

eBay has turned into a sanctuary for crooks these days. No effective regulation at all now.
