First Ever Crossover Sub (NGC to PCGS) and a Success!

First ever PCGS Crossover via the World Express service. Same grade ("Current") crossover of NGC MS 62 to PCGS MS 62.

To be honest, the main reason why I wanted to crossover is that PCGS recognizes the variety where the 22nd Year of the Republic Junk Dollar (1933) is paired with the 1934 Reverse.

Graded MS 62 by PCGS, this classic Chinese crown is a beautiful and original coin with lovely surfaces from a nice cabinet tone of several decades. Nice crusty surfaces that are overlapped and glossed by ample luster. Sourced from an old American collection built over the decades.

Cheers to the New Year!

Best,

    Hi Coin Kat!

Good evening! Hehe, thank you for your support!

I believe it is--due to the muling. It is a minor difference, yet, attributed by the latest edition of the seminal catalog by Lin and Ma. That is, Y 109A, and hence, a new PCGS Spec Number (link: https://www.pcgs.com/valueview/1-1912-1934/1933-1-lm-109a-ws0145b-rev-34/4207?sn=809626&g=62&h=)

Here is a reference from Heritage on this, quoting: "KM-Y345, L&M-109, WS-0145B. Junk of 1934 variety. The scarcer of the two principle reverse varieties for this already fleeting series date, with the Junk style of 1934 coming to market with much greater infrequency, representing just 1% of the certified population at PCGS."

    Hope this helps!

    It does… thanks.

I wonder about the timing associated with the recognition of certain die varieties.
