Does PCGS do show turnaround for World coins?
Anyone know the cost?
Thank you!

I tend to doubt that they do… While I submit world At shows to PCGS, I have not attempted or asked about a show walk thru

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

  • My experience was not good. Never tried again since fool me once.

Gave them three coins when they opened first day at the August ANA show in 2023. Paid $150 per coin for end of show. All kinds of excuses why they did not have them done.

They shipped them to me three weeks later. No adjustment on the price. Could have left them and paid $70 per coin plus the return shipping

I have done show grading on Canadian without any problems. Never tried other world coins.

They absolutely do show grading for world, but some are remanded back for the experts in Newport Beach.

I appreciate this guidance but more often than not PCGS themselves seem very unconfident on the amount of services available for each show. I have graded world coins numerous times at shows and some experiences are great and others totally misleading.

"Thank you for reaching out to PCGS Customer Care.

Please know we have limited grading on world coins. We will try our best to grade world coins on-site, but there is no guarantee that we will be able to have them returned to you by the end of the show. If we do not grade them by the time the show ends, we will have to have them sent back to our facility to finish the grading process, and we will then ship them back to you via mail."

This is per the E-Mail I received back from PCGS in relation to the upcoming FUN Show.

As general guidance for myself I see show grading for World coins as a benefit to ensure nothing is lost in shipping and save myself some costs. Otherwise, I would avoid trying to use their other services.

Oops, I meant to respond to this when Lermish pinged me but forgot.

Yes, they do grade most world coins as long as they fit in a standard holder. They do not grade hammered coins (Japanese ones at least), but "modern" milled stuff of normal sizes should be fine.

Cost depends on the speed, there's show rarity/express/regular/economy. Economy is the cheapest at $70, but requires a 5 coin minimum.

All that said, in my experience with Meiji Japanese coins at show grading, I will never do it again. I don't think they bring dedicated world graders to the show and for my series they did not seem to understand the nuances of it. All of the ones I submitted were crackouts that were downgraded from 62/63 to 55s or 58s. I cracked them out again and sent them back to home office where they got their original grades back or an upgrade.
