How many coins are you hoping to add to your collection in 2025?

I had a great 2024 added way more coins than expected and now hoping 2025 will be a much slower year would be happy with 6-8 new coins. I do not have a big budget I am a small time coin collector so a slower year would great after going past budget in 2024.

1 maybe 2 if I'm lucky.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
0 to 1000
It's not about the number of coins and is about the quality and fit with my collecting objectives. As such, I can't give a number. Obviously, available discretionary funds will always be a factor.

Hopefully, at least the 9 gold CAC commems I need to complete my set:
Tim
2 or 3 big ones depending on cash and who knows what else depending on availability.
Five
Carson City Trade Dollar
Carson City Seated Liberty dollar
Carson City Seated Liberty half dollar
Carson City Seated Liberty quarter
Carson City Seated Liberty dime

Who knows? I buy whatever catches my eye at the time. I don't have anything that is on my "need" list!

If I can even muster up an ounce of self control it will be 0️⃣
If I can find 6 it would be great. The problem is finding them.
Probably 3-5 big ones, and about 100 or so little ones

Trying to put together an early dollar set so maybe 2. Just got one to close the year out.
I don't really know, I'm kind of drawing a blank right now. I have an IHC set to finish but it's been on the back burner for about a year already. A few things pop into my head from day to day but I haven't felt a strong pull towards any one of them more than the others.
I don’t have a number; it’s whatever I see I like & if I have the funds to buy it.

If i could find any of the coins I am needing for my sets in 2025 I would be thrilled.
I’m hoping 2025 reinvigorates my interest again. The second half of this year has really been void of anything coin related. Sold off all of my non-gold coins. Just keeping my pre-33 gold, some premium silver bars and my Dansco 7070 to work on when/if I get the itch again.

I'd be happy with between 5 and 10 for my CBH collection if they were the right ones. Maybe a few others and a few pieces of currency too.

Maybe 20 of the remaining 42 I need (before upgrades)
Very cool Tim
Probably five or less, about what I did this year. I’m getting very picky in my old age.
Dave
Too many but not enough.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
3 on the list, 4 more if I can muster the courage.
So far, I've added one or two (depending on how you count, since one of those two was purchased on December 30, and received this year; also, I don't count US MInt offerings that I buy to be "coins" like I consider the two that I'm counting to be "coins"). I may buy no more coins, or perhaps as many as two more coins, during this calendar year.
I expect next year to be similar.
Let me do the maths:
New coins (so far) acquired in 2024: 347
New coins acquired in 2023: 158
So one might well assume another 200 to 300 would be added in 2025. But after 35+ years of singleness I've just recently acquired one of those "girlfriend" things, so my best guess as to the actual answer to the OP question would be "a lot fewer than this year, or last year".
Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, "Meditations"
Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD.
More than I should and less than I want
According to my better half the answer would be zero. Good thing she doesn’t really know what I am doing. 🙂
Some items on my hit list:
1795 flowing hair dollar (straight grade)
Cc, c, d, gold pieces
Here is what I'd like to add for my PCGS Type Set (AU or better, except for the Fugio). . .
1787 Fugio Cent
Jefferson Nickel 2005-D Speared Bison
Shield Nickel with Rays
Seated Liberty 20 Cent
"W" National Park Quarter
Kennedy Half Dollar Silver (1964)
Peace Dollar High Relief (1921)
Presidential Dollar Missing Edge Lettering
Philippines Peso Roosevelt 1936-M
Given my current project - about 20-25. That will get me 2/3 the way to completeion.
WS
Exactly two. My coin collecting presently is filling the latest blue Whitman cent folder. I will find a nice 2025 and 2025D. My entire coin budget for 2025 will then be exhausted.
I’d like 6 to finish my set and then work on something else but more than likely it’ll be 2-3.
Optimism doesn't really cost anything, but availability and budget play their part. I will be very hopeful and say 10 or more. James
I don't know. There are eleven things still on my list. I started 2024 thinking I had the budget for one but some 90% I could dump advantageously if I wanted more. I wound up buying three great-for-me coins this year.
I think 2025 will probably be about the same -- I expect I'll have the budget to spend outright for one, but if good opportunities present I could shed some bullion-related things to fund one or two more.
My hope is that it’s more than what I sell. My wife thinks i should sell it all and go have fun.
Let me add: it’s threads like this which make me miss actual “ collecting”.
So far I’ve added 7 coins this year.
1 Indian quarter eagle.
2 proof mercs.
4 merc doubled die varieties.
I’ll be looking for more of the same in 2025, so I would guess the next year’s newps will number somewhere in that same ballpark.
Very cool for sure, but you will need 10 to complete the set.

I'd settle just to find the last 2 coins I need to finish my "Complete Dansco 7070 Modified Type Set (1796-Date)".
Liberty Seated Half Dime Arrows (1853-55)
Liberty Seated Quarter No Motto (1838-65)
Finding the coins is not the problem as they are not rare. The problem is finding them in the right condition and looking the way I want them to look.

Good eye, Donato. I acquired a Bay Bridge after I took that photo. And Ian is working on locating a Connecticut so it may actually be down to eight by 2025. Fingers crossed!
Tim
Nowadays, I average about three or four a year. I expect that to continue. Quality over quantity.

Depends on taxes!
I would be happy with one a month.
All of them, of course!
Goal is 20 keepers... usually less
BST: KindaNewish (3/21/21), WQuarterFreddie (3/30/21), Meltdown (4/6/21), DBSTrader2 (5/5/21) AKA- unclemonkey on Blow Out
Two:
One to upgrade a brown Indian cent to a Red & Brown that’s mostly Red.
The other is a below-the-radar 19th Century coin which is just plain rare in Mint State.
Finding either in 2025 would make me a happy collector!
30+ years coin shop experience (ret.) Coins, bullion, currency, scrap & interesting folks. Loved every minute!

It all depends on what shows up for sale. It's entirely unpredictable. I've bought 14 this year, but several are duplicates though not necessarily upgrades.
None is all ways a goal. I have achieved that a few random years since 1979. But most every year something unexpected crosses my path.
My annual goal really is NONE.
There are many more important things for me to buy instead of coins. But item/items might pop up and I then may think I need it/them so I close the offer:
Or Not, and then regret it or not when it goes elsewhere...
That actually depends on who in our family is doing the coin shopping 😂
