It does to me. I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

Boy that was fast. Answered in 3 minutes.
I'm not disagreeing with you but what do you see that makes it look fake?

No. I doubt that’s even silver.
I see her lips are way off to start. The rest of it looks sloppy, jmo
I say bogus
Tail feathers are wrong and flattened off, as well as appearing to be overlapped.
Looks like the breast of a 78.
You were offered a good price.
No
Suggestion - buy TPG coins. If it’s so wonderful why not in TPG holder? Looks fake from a mile off. Lacks the detail of the real coin.
Counterfeit

I think the date looks way off. I'm not saying I think it's real. I just wanted opinions and a lesson on counterfeit coins. Morgan's in particular.
As far as why not in a holder, I believe there are thousands of morgans that have never been sent to a TPG. Thousands of raw coins in the wild waiting to be discovered. This may not be one of them. I agree a TPG is a safe bet but I wouldn't pass on a nice coin because it's raw.

@MFeld thank you. Now I know 100% is fake. Ill still take a look at it because I told him I would. I'll have to break the news to him that it's a fake and I can't buy it. Bummer. It would have been a good score.

The lips remind me of Elvis when he sang. "Thank you very much".
In your thread title, you asked: “I am being offered this Morgan at a very affordable price, does it look genuine?” And in your opening post you wrote “It does to me. I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow.”

It was super that you asked here.
You have your answer.
Thanks to the experts for saving you from buying a mistake.
I too have it as as a fake

??? You did say you thought it was real???
If you want to be really careful too, only buy coins with a CAC sticker!!!

Obviously, I don’t know the circumstances of how the coin got offered to you. But unless you know the person well, don’t assume he’s unaware that the coin’s counterfeit.

Run away! It's a counterfeit.
What I meant by I thought it was real is I was told he had an 1879CC to sell. Then he sent me images.
So I figured it was counterfeit. I thought it would make for good conversation.
Not really looking to be bashed. This forum means alot to me. People may not always like what I post but if it helps someone other than me it's worth it.
Not to mention that this forum has been a little slow lately. If it's coin related I have to choices, keep it to myself or post a thread.

.
At different times you posted that you thought the coin was real and that you weren’t saying you thought it was real. No one was bashing you by bringing up that apparent contradiction.
I hope you can enjoy the forum for what it is.

So when people answer your questions, that's bashing?
The title is confusing as it says "I am being offered this Morgan at a very affordable price, does it look genuine?" and then in the post you said "It does to me. I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow." this leads us to believe that you think the coin is real when it appears to be a counterfeit.
but...
Why don't we just agree that it's fake and move on.
Fake as a $20 Rolex
Yeah, I remember seeing the Elvis lips counterfeits before

Be nice, good folks. Fake has been established and no point in wrestling with the OP.

Just look in/at her eyes, she looks like Sylvester Stallone
Liberty's face is cartoonish.
That's fake.
Look at the eye, among other details.
When someone offers a $10k coin for a "fair price", you are right to ask here and I'm glad you did.
Collector, occasional seller
I agree, if you are going to meet someone you met online for this I'd suggest an email instead. Inform them that upon closer inspection of the photos the coin is clearly counterfeit. If they already know the coin is fake and are meeting with you, they might just decide to rob you the old fashioned way instead.
May I ask what this party was asking for this "gem"?

Fake.
Now this thread can be considered official...
@Morgan13
When you're considering a valuable coin that is raw, it would be helpful to use the CoinFacts site to compare images. One look here and I think you would have come to the right conclusion.

"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
And this is one of the reasons fakes keep selling-
" Bummer. It would have been a good score."
It's a common Chinese fake.

No opinion on the coin as I don't know anything about coins. But there are good coins to be found. My friend has a coin/card shop in Philly and he had someone go in with complete runs of Morgan and Peace Dollars. They included the CC mint marks and a lot in higher grade. He is a seasoned veteran in the coins business for the last 40 plus years. So my point is, there are still great finds to be found.

So many things look fake on this coin, I wouldn't want it in a holder. If you are actively buying raw, high value Morgans, I would spend some funds on counterfeit training or expect some losses.
