I've always like looking at these and over the years I've owned a couple different ones for a time.
I picked this one up from a friend last week - He put each gem in there individually as he found them.
It's a blazing set and looks awesome in hand. I think what I like the most about these is the fact you can still build a REALLY nice UNC set for pretty little money.
Post yours if you have one to share.

Interesting timing! I bought this at the Portland show from a gentleman that walked up to the table with a handful of coins to sell, vintage Wayte Raymond

Cool little subset of the Jefferson Nickel.
Added in the proof to the usual mint state set to get a cool dozen coin set.
It's NOT certified, but I like the holder, too.
Any comments are welcome.
Thanks,
Chris
I have a little nickel set that started as a war nickel set. Cheap so it doesn’t ever have to live in the SDB. If I see an attractive and interesting nickel, cheap, I will pick it up and this is where the set sits
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
I have always loved war nickels, ever since my parents told me that those nickels were silver (they were common in circulation when I was a kid).
A significant step in the evolution of my collecting was when when I realized that I could get a nice set of mint-state war nickels for a very modest price; I liked the look, and updated my entire Jefferson nickel collection, followed by all the other collections.
I'm poorer, but happier.
I had these slabbed years ago when I thought they were special...........................they're NOT! 🤣 😂

It's not a set but it's a War Nickel.

Back in the 80;s I used to love war nickel sets. They were so easy to flip at shows. I would go through 4 or 5 sets to guarantee 'dinner money'.
The biggest problem I had with most War Nickel sets is that there would used be a few “sliders” (AU coins) slipped into them. I finally found a set which contained all Mint State coins although I did upgrade a few of them later. These coins are cheap as raw Mint State pieces, so it’s easy to do.

Putting together a complete set of these would be a real accomplishment!
