Who is going to win this?
Is it fixed, a sham, a legit fight????

I would love to see Iron Mike knock his block off, however, Father Time is thus far undefeated.
It is absolutely surreal to me that Tyson is actually part of a prize fight in 2024. this is making me feel young again.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Hope Mike kicks his ass. But I do wonder if the fix is in in an effort to further grow the Paul brand.

Main Card (Netflix, 8 p.m. ET)
Heavyweight: Jake Paul (-250) vs. Mike Tyson (+190)

The -250 on Paul is like stealing money.
My concern on betting is that they will fix this for a rematch
All signs point to either Tyson knocking him out in the first round or it going 4 or 5 rounds and Tyson just running out of gas.
Paul hasn't faced legit hardcore boxers but him being 30 years younger gives him the edge after the first round.
I hope it's legit and Tyson blows him out of his shoes in the first round
I placed this bet back in May, when the fight was originally scheduled for July. When it was rescheduled, I just let it ride instead of cashing out.

I forget the exact quote, and even who gave the quote, but it was essentially, "They give you Mike Tyson aaaaand plus money? You take Mike Tyson every time, no matter how old he is or who he's fighting!"
I agreed so much with that, I bet $2 on it instead of my usual $1. 🤣
Do folks forget that Tyson towards the end of his career was getting his head handed to him by tomato cans? And that was around 20 years ago.
Yes, as we all know, the last thing a fighter loses is his punch. If Paul is foolish enough to engage Tyson early, then Tyson has a fighter's chance. But it would be hard for me to believe that Paul would be that stupid.
This fight will be a little bit easier on Tyson, consisting of 8 rounds of 2 minutes each. Logically Tyson will know that he should rate himself. However with fighters, it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks. I think Tyson despite knowing he shouldn't do it, once he gets a taste of the ring live, will go head first after Paul, trying for a quick knockout. Paul has the skills to evade him. Then Tyson around the third or fourth round, maybe fifth or sixth round, becomes gassed like a horse trained for sprinting trying to run a mile and a half, and Paul easily gets the TKO.
Remember how Mike quit against Evander Holyfield? I mean Mike knew he would be DQ'd biting Evander's ear. That's the same as quitting. Mike isn't going to bite Paul's ear. However around the 4th, 5th, or 6th round, perhaps Mike may do a Roberto Duran "No mas. No mas." Then again Mike may go out on his sword. We shall see.
I'm not a fan of Jake Paul. I hope he gets cocky, stops running and gets clocked.
Lets go Tyson!!! At 58 win or lose he will bank 20$ million dollars that is a huge win for him and he deserves it all after changing his whole life around. He is worth what now....10$ million so many stole from him he deserves this.

I agree with ya. I couldn't stand the old Mike Tyson. I watched that fight live on TV when Buster Douglas put him on his arze.
But the "new" Mike Tyson I like a lot. I just don't see him winning this fight.
The downfall started when Tyson, at the behest of that snake oil salesman Don King, fired most of team Tyson... including, and most importantly, Rooney. I don't think Tyson would have been out all night partying in Japan before the Douglas fight if he still had people on his team that held him accountable.
I also remember watching that fight and recall the expectation... everywhere... being that this fight was going to last 90 seconds... I think Buster didn't get the memo because his jab was lights out that night.
I think we all want to see a 60 year old legend with ulcers beat the tar out of a Paul brother.
Best of luck to Iron Mike Tyson; we area all rooting for you!
The substantial truth doctrine is an important defense in defamation law that allows individuals to avoid liability if the gist of their statement was true.
How long have they been talking about this fight now, three years?
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

The Tyson-Douglas fight was one of the most memorable events in sports. Larry Merchant was a great fight caller but Colonel Bob Sheridan's call of those 9th and 10th rounds that night was unmatched and unforgettable.
Tyson appears to be in excellent shape, physically, and the shorter rounds will undoubtedly help him but this still seems like an exhibition fight to me even though it is being sanctioned by the Texas boxing commission and will count on Tyson's official pro record.
I agree with Steve that if Tyson doesn't end it quickly he will likely run out of gas fairly quickly, too. He quit on the stool in his last pro fight vs the immortal Kevin McBride but at that time he was strictly fighting for the paycheck with no heart in the fight. I do think he cares more about winning this fight (and not embarrassing himself in the process), but boxing has become such a spectacle now who knows. One thing is also certain, Tyson is no longer the menacing individual he was during the 1980s and 90s.
I agree with craig in that this fight does make me feel young again.

That money sure buys a lot of pigeons. 😉
color me cynical but idk if i can even trust this fight
if Paul gets his face broken this insufferable schtick of his is over, and with it goes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
and the moment he fights someone other than a washed up mma fighter or a former champ who is closer to home health care than his glory days, that's exactly what's gonna happen
but everyone and their dog knows that's NOT going to happen
they're going to squeeze as much out of these dog and pony shows for as long as they can
if Tyson puts him to sleep, feel free to tell me i was wrong
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Scripted.
the goonies movie is completely unwatchable in 2024.
tubiTV told me it was leaving soon so i decided to watch it but i couldnt sit thru it
I never watched the Goonies even back in 1985 lol
Stop. Save the Goondocks.
it is immediately apparent that it has no plot , if you attempt to watch it you will need to bash your head against a wall to make sense of it
Pretty sure the plot is to get that rizz. You must be watching it backwards.
every kid in it needs ritalin

Thanks bronc… that was completely unreadable. Never saw the movie but it has to be a step up from that.
Perhaps the only thing worse than watching the Goonies is being a New York City, NFL fan this season. Rooting for the Jets and Giants.
Come on - it was only a joke. No nasty PM's please. 😆
This is the first I'm hearing that everything in movies isn't completely accurate. I was just watching Back to the Future part 2 and some of these things don't appear realistic either. My eyes are open now.
To each their own I still enjoy it from time to time.

Please Mike, knock this fool out.

but now you are going to wonder
all websites are like that by default , i have adblock and noscript so to me it was incredibly concise !
No I will still enjoy it just like I did. Other people do not influence me in the least. I am my own man.
NFL: Buffalo Bills & Green Bay Packers
I graduated high school in 1985 .............. Now thats goony!
jake paul reminds me of sloth
It's personal now.
.
.
Well, ya knew something like that was gonna happen. 😆
getting a pro wrestling vibe
Exactly what it was, scripted of course.
That being said, I don't believe for a second this fight is rigged.
I don't actively look to collect old Sports Illustrated magazines, but this is one that I picked up somewhere along the way a number of years ago. Perhaps this is interesting to a few of you. The third page of text continues the article along the top of the page, with fight predictions in the 2 sections below.
.
I'm calling it right now
Tyson wrecks him within 3 rounds
Disclaimer- If it's not a scripted clown show
I sure hope you are right. I cant stand Paul and all of his stupid tattoos.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Purse:
PAUL - 40 MILLION
TYSON - 20 MILLION
How is Paul the bigger draw?
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!
Ignore list -Basebal21
That in itself should motivate Tyson to smash him, then for Tyson vs Paul 2 his purse will swell
I'm not sure if it was in one of the three Netflix Paul vs Tyson Countdown episodes or in an Instagram/Youtube clip previewing the show but supposedly Jake Paul offered Mike another 5M if he can last three rounds.

crazy. or maybe I am just old. I just dont care about Jake Paul. At all.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
The "problem" with some saying or implying the fight being rigged, in my opinion, is this. It still favors Paul.
If Tyson beats Paul in this fight, I just don't think there would be much public interest in a rematch. There may very well be interest in seeing Tyson fight others. But Paul again? I doubt it.
Whereby if Paul beats Tyson, I think there would be a lot of interest in seeing Mike get a second chance at it.
So if there is any rigging to be done, I think logically it would point to Tyson losing the fight.
That’s my take also - it never entered my mind that it would be rigged for Tyson to win. Paul as an “influencer” has many additional fights to make beaucoup bucks on if he wins this. No way he’s taking a fall. But for that exact reason, I could see it being rigged for Tyson to take a fall to save Paul’s future earnings… he could easily slip twice as much as Tyson’s purse to Tyson behind the scenes as payoff to ensure his fight “career” continues.
Jim
That certainly is strange. I mean Mike Tyson is a household name. Logically it would seem that Tyson should earn the greater number?
I just don’t see how it could be rigged/scripted given the amount of wagering it is attracting. Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
it was amusing watching Tyson slap someone
probably the first time he's come at another male with an open fist in his life
Mitch Green confronted him outside of Dapper Dan's in Harlem many moons ago and Tyson almost rendered him unrecognizable
makes the highly cynical side of me wonder if it was scripted to drum up even more interest (as if it needs more)
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Jake Paul's company, MVP Promotions, has also been the main promoter for this fight so he's likely going to see additional income from all of this too. Other than Tyson possibly doing some major damage to his face, he really has nothing to lose from this fight. If he wins, he just beat one of, if not, the GOAT of boxing. If he loses, its the same, he fought the GOAT and lost. There's really no bad publicity from this for him either way.
His brother Logan allegedly staged getting scammed on a purchase of a $3.5M case of sealed Pokemon cards and used all of the attention from that situation to build up his other endeavours, Jake will likely do the same with this Tyson fight.
I just hope that Tyson beats this dude handily, I'd hate to see a loss to Jake Paul tarnish his overall legacy similar to how MJ came out of retirement to play for the Wizards.
