"The Original Ikes", awarded by Ike himself or by his direction at the locations indicated on the reverse design (8 different). Class 2 Eisenhower appreciation medals with common obverse design. Designed by Frank Gasparro and struck at the US Mint. First known completed uncirculated set graded by a TPG.
The Japan reverse is the rarest among the Class 2 series, with an estimated population of 5 available to collectors (based on my research).
Original map from the NARA archives. There are a total of 4 Classes of Eisenhower appreciation medals. Most follow his "goodwill tours". Medals were first organized and cataloged as a complete US Mint series in 2013 (catalog released in 2014).
