A little “win” off eBay…😉

So I recently purchased this coin off eBay….and I bought it hoping that it wasn’t an MS coin as advertised. During the Tampa coin show I submitted it to PCGS for ‘restoration’ and grading….and it was just graded as a Proof 64…with a $400 value higher than I paid for it. Nice to finally get a good deal….and can’t wait to see the restored coin and images. Cheers, karl

Congrats. Not a lot of wins from that seller
Nice score.
Thanks…I was a little leery after reading some of the comments about others who had purchased from this dealer. I’m a bit wiser now. 😉 Cheers, karl
Smart to submit it with restoration. If they take it to start with its a good shot it will end in a holder

I learned after reading here that this dealer tends to photoshop their coins…and when I actually received this coin it was rather dull. I was a bit doubtful but a few graders and opinions from dealers at the Tampa show said it was indeed a proof and that it didn’t appear cleaned…so it was a good candidate for restoration. So off it went. I’ll post the images when PCGS loads them. Cheers, Karl
Fortune was in your corner. Excellent addition. Like seeing these reports.
Wow! You got over on Denver.coins!

Great pickup, Karl. Good eye!

Thanks Tim….😉
Not bad at all!

Looks like a nice proof with a cameo appearance. I’m glad it worked out and I look forward to seeing the restored Trueview. However, unless it grades CAM it’s worth about what you have in it. The last sale prices for that grade are all around $720.
Congrats are in order especially due to the seller's stellar rep ahem. Why did you submit it under pcgs restoration services program if numerous experts said it was not cleaned?
Congrats on a nice pickup!

…..
When I received the coin it had very hazy surfaces (unlike in the eBay posting), so I asked the graders at the Tampa show if they thought restoration services would be worth a try and they said yes. Had it been cleaned I would have just left it ungraded. I was able to use one of my PCGS yearly membership grading certificates so with the postage and restoration it was only $47…..I’m okay with that. Cheers, karl
Nice to see an ebay crapster get cherrypicked!
When I first opened the thread, I saw the screenshot of a Denver Coins listing and was expecting a story with a bad ending. Glad to have been wrong - congrats!
And here is the coin after restoration and grading. Photo with my iPad…..
Good job......
You must be inline for a "you suck" award.
What a fantastic pick up and truly a treasure find.

I have to wonder what the slab said they cracked it out of?
