That appears to be a copper Lincoln memorial cent. They were minted between 1959 and 1981. It is well worn and has no numismatic premium. Since it is made of copper, it has just under 3 cents worth of copper in it, but it is illegal to melt it for the copper value. As is, worth 1 cent.
I like it.
Looks natural.
I wish it had a visible date/MM.

That looks like some kind of accretion on the surface.
1966, and yes- upon closer inspection, it is PMD.
Unusual looking, but not a result of a natural occurrence.
