Is this an error penny?

I was going through my parents things and found this penny and was going to toss it but thought it looked different and then I found out there were a lot of error pennies that were in 1985 with the D marking. Would anyone be able to tell me if it is and if it's worth anything? Thank you!

It looks like some sort of liquid sitting on it.
There is nothing in the minting process that would cause that.

  • Yeah I wasn't sure if one of my parents did that or something. But thought the penny could still be an error penny.

    Welcome to the forum! :)

It's just a cent in plastic/lucite resin, good chance it's a homemade paper weight. ;)
Not an error of any kind.

It looks like glue to me.
Not something that occurred during the minting process.
