I have a box right now that I am going through, and will post the results when finished.

Here's the other side. Let's see how she cleans up with a little acetone.... I'll be back.

Thanks Den. Most people probably don't have the time, patience or inclination to look for these things. Like the W quarters, it most likely depends on where you live and where the fed dumped them into circulation. I'm no different from anyone else. I'm just lucky sometimes.

I've looked for this specific error for so long when I worked as a cashier. I was always so disappointed. Congrats on the find!
I don't know what it was but the acetone took it right off. Yes, it is the same coin. I just soaked/submerged it in acetone and used a Q-tip to gently wipe it.

Did you get a lot of these small dollar coins as a cashier?

Hmmm I may have to have another go at mine. Did you soak it long? Mine looked similar to yours in the beginning but a mere soak and rinse did little to change it. I did get a little of that coloring I see in yours though.

60 seconds. No, not just soak and rinse. I submerged the coin and a couple of Q-tip in a small plastic container. I gently wiped the debris off with the saturated Q-tips.
Let's see a picture of that coin.

No, very rarely.
Nice! Tough to tell luster with the pic. I'll say MS62.
No errors in my box. 😥
I did find six G. H. W. Bush dollars, two innovation dollars, two 2024 sac dollars, and a twopence. 🙄
The twopence goes back. 😈
I still have yet to find any small dollar varieties.

The acetone didn't eat the plastic container?
Nope, not yet. Been using it for years.

This might be a better picture of it.
