I’m just excited. Not even sure what beyond excited would feel like.

This will be a period of relaxation for me .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Does that mean that you’re going or not?

Wish I could go, maybe next year! Hope you all have a great time. I am hoping the presentations will be recorded (especially Max Keech's presentation on Suprema Junta issues).
I joined US Mex, bought plane tickets, and booked a hotel room. I even have a built in excuse for my wife; our son goes to college in Phoenix, so we could make this a visit!
...and then he decided to visit us that weekend and the whole thing went to s***.
Next year.
Wishing you all a great show!!!

Awesome result @TwoKopeiki ! Also, that huge 1812 Durango 8r is amazing, that's the heaviest War of Independence coin I've ever seen! Is it yours? Briggs and Bustos had an great 1813 Chihuahua earlier this year that I think was about 33 grams, which was remarkable enough.
Congratulations on an awesome addition to your collection!
Given that the coin would be unique and pricey, couldn't it have been made (counterfeited) with period metal? I haven't seen the coin, so I am just playing devil's advocate here.
I suppose NGC authentication precludes that.
Did you show it to Jay to get him ready for the crossover?
Wow. It feels like I'm really there.

Yes, the Durango is now in my collection, courtesy of @MrEureka Neat coin and exactly what you want to see on an XRF in terms of alloy composition

That MS-63 milled 8 reales 1733 is a beauty!!!

He bought that coin right and will do very well on it. Better photos here:

Seems like he got it before the explosion in value. It should bring a pretty penny at auction.

Great show! Did some business and had lunch with Andy Lustig.
Anyone buy any coins? Please share images.

Hahaha preferably yes!!!

Picked up this piece, as well. 1813-HJ 8 Reales in NGC AU53. Scarcer assayer combination for this date.

Great coin @TwoKopeiki. I passed on an XF45 1813 MoHJ early last year that I thought in the moment was overpriced... after trying to find a better one for 1.5 years I no longer think it is overpriced, lol.
@TwoKopeiki
Congrats-well played

Thank you!
I suppose it could be a numismatic counterfeit, but why pick the date and assayer initials not known to exist at the time? The die work (including the edge) if fantastic and if you're able to create dies like that, why not do the 1778-FM or 1783-FM that were already bringing in thousands of dollars in the 80's and avoid the unnecessary scrutiny? It would have also been much easier to just alter the date or the assayer initial, but this coin shows no evidence of either.
The first mention of this coin is 1981 as part of The Money Company auction. The auctioneer back then also skeptical about the originality of it sent the coin first to IAPN and then Ferran Calico in Spain. Both authorities on counterfeits and Spanish colonial issues. Both signed off on the coin being authentic after performing tests (I assume Specific Gravity, overlays, edge validation).

@TwoKopeiki I'm not sure if you know, but The Money Company (Richard Nelson) was very active in Asia starting in the late 1970s and continuing into the 1990s. He had an office in Hong Kong and auctions in Tokyo and Hong Kong. I have a few of his old catalogs somewhere. When I looked at his old catalogs, I remember he had a few cool Mexican patterns over the years too (long before I started collecting them). He also got some cool things out of the Philippines. Those were the days and Asia was the place to find stuff like that, so I am not surprised that's where it came from.
In 2007, he told me he was losing his eyesight and he and his family were selling off his remaining collection/inventory on eBay (as "jetonex88"). I bought stuff from him on eBay until 2012. He seems to be forgotten by numismatists as someone in 2013 asked about him in the "eSylum," but no one ever responded with information. If he is still alive, you might be able to ask him about the details of the find. (Ron Gillio at Stacks might know his whereabouts. Ron was active in Asia about the same time.)
@pruebas - thanks for the additional info. I've been trying to find more information on Richard Nelson using the internet and have only found the eSylum ask. I'll reach out to Ron and let you know if anything comes out of that thread.
