This 67 y.o. just made his first-ever TPG submission
Well, after many stops and starts thinking about doing it... I done dooded it!
And though I'm sure I have nothing to worry about... I'm still on pins and needles.
Took advantage of the PCGS quarterly special for 12 moderns, 5 of them semi-keys, that I'm hoping will come back with some nice numerals. Free Gold Shield, yet. Didn't imagine there were so many rules concerning shipping. I opted for Express Mail w/ extra insurance vis-a-vis Registered Mail with the same. My p.o. guy is just the most helpful person and he aided me in my decision and even taped up the parcel for me. Lotsa dough to send it that way w/ the extra insurance, but I wanted everything to go just right for submission #1. I just hope there's someone at the office in Newport Beach on a Saturday to sign for it! Hoping for a return in about 3 weeks and I'll update in the comments when they come back.

grading of moderns can be rough

Are you building a set or are they random coins?

Good luck with your submission.
Something to consider for your next submission.

Do not know what you submitted this time. But, if there is an issue, and the USPS deems your items to be "bullion", their max indemnity is $15.
Might want to consider using Registered next time. It might be slower, but it is more secure due to special handling, and you avoid the "bullion" limitation.
It will get there fine. My record with USPS is 100% inbound and 99.98% shipped, on about 10,000 packages and most were first class or priority.
@allnewsanchor do you mind sharing what you sent to our host?

Excellent numbers !!! And, the OP's initial submission will probably be fine, as well.
Notwithstanding, not all shipments are fine. So, the OP buys insurance to protect himself. And, I sincerely hope that he never needs to make a claim. But, if he ever needs to, it would be better for him to understand the 'fine print' beforehand.
Can't remember the name or all of the specifics, but, IIRC, a forumite recently experienced a loss due to this "bullion" provision. Just trying to help someone else potentially avoid the same issue.
Edited: added the word "bullion" to the last paragraph.
Rule # 1: never ever ship overnight on a Friday. I don’t care who the carrier is, that’s the easiest way for packages to go missing. At least you bought the extra insurance.
Rule # 2: never tell anyone what’s in your package. There is absolutely no upside potential for anyone to know.

Random. BTW, Mizzou, I lived and worked in STL for 7 years.

TY, madman and skier. I thought about the Saturday arrival after the fact. My p.o. guy is totally trustworthy, BTW.

And thank you, Metro. Will do. Five bullions out of the 12 coins.

Sure. Five '96 proof silver Eagles, three '96 W dimes (hopefully FT), two '98 Kennedy matte SMS, one '72 Ike silver proof in original mint slab, and one '99 SBA silver proof.

Your p.o. guy might not be as trustworthy as you think. Even if he is trustworthy he has lips and may inadvertently tell someone else who is not trustworthy.
Addendum: I thought I lived in a safe and secure community. Several months ago a house was broken into and reportedly several million dollars of jewelry and coins were stolen. Someone obviously knew what was in the house.
Have my fingers crossed for you!

I hope you do better than my first few submissions where I found I was buying mostly problem coins
Your coins will arrive safely and you'll be fine.
Nobody is going to steal your coins.
The only thing I have to say is don't count your chickens until they hatch.
3 weeks would be nice but I wouldn't be surprised if it were more like 3 months I am sorry to say.
Sounds like your enjoying yourself and that's what's important.

At what age did you begin playing with coins?
Nice! Keep us posted...the anticipation is half the fun!

Is this a legit question or are we being snarky?
I don't "play" with coins. I collect them and, a few decades ago, I invested in some.

Your submission will get done sooner the more times you hit refresh on your submission number.
Not being snarky at all.
Just curious when you started collecting coins if this is your first time ever submitting coins for grading.
Well, as a kid I collected cents in the Whitman folders like so many of us.
When I bought my first 6 rarities in '91, four of them were already NGC-slabbed. Two were raw.
I mostly fell away from the hobby until earlier this year. My dad, of blessed memory, was big into stamps... especially Chinese. He joined a local stamp & coin club and would buy me assorted proof and mint sets at the monthly auctions. I'd buy the occasional proof or mint set as they were released. I had the good foresight to buy two '99 silver proof sets. And if something caught my eye, like the '99 SBA proof, I'd pick it up. While this was my first personal submission, I had a local dealer send off the last two of the coins I bought in '91 (both came back from NGC Unc Details Cleaned which didn't have me exactly jumping for joy).

Submitting them is the easy part , for me. Accepting the reality when they return is not so easy for me, sometimes. Enjoy. That is rudimentary.
Arrived and signed for. (exhales) Now if I only survive this %*&#@ hurricane...
