Coinstar Score!

$30+ face value, consisting of $22 in quarters, $6 modern dollars, and a few bucks in dimes/nickels/cents (didn’t count those). No silver coins, unfortunately. This is my second big score at the grocery store near my work, the first being last year when I found $40+ face in 90% silver (unbelievable, I know). I’m not sure why the CoinStar machine rejected all the clad coins this time. Perhaps the machine malfunctioned, since all of these coins appear to be undamaged and aren’t silver. However it may have happened, it led to an overfilled reject bin that I gladly emptied!

I usually find nothing! And I look practically every day. I happen to work right next to a store with a CoinStar machine, so I am in a unique position that allows me to check on a daily basis.

    Nice score.

  • Well, I guess I won't bother to run next door to check the Coinstar next time I'm over at your shop.

A very aware, very kind person stuffed that reject bin full with coins for a stranger to find. Paying it forward is what the practice is called.

Great find. I typically only find one coin. Finding that much is unique

I think someone was high and couldn't figure out how the machine worked. Oops.

@BustHalfBrian Don't get too excited when you lose it at the poker table next week :D

That's a hefty score, even for it being regular change, congrats!!

To be fair, it was Irvine. $30 is chump change for the average Irvine resident.
