I pulled this out of a box of nickels.
At first I thought it might be solder since it's so high, but a quick check on cuds-on-coins.com found a match.
Here is my coin:

I noted that the cud is localized enough that there is no corresponding weakness on the reverse.
I am posting this partly for the benefit of newbies. No microscopes were needed during my search of a box of 2000 nickels. I found a well-worn 1924 Buffalo Nickel, a couple dozen nickels from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, and this cud. Any additional time spent magnifying the coins would have been a wasted effort.

Very nice! Out in the wild for potentially about 50 years!
That’s a really neat cud. The don’t usually curve away from the rim like that.
Yes, that also made me skeptical when I found it. I'm not sure I was aware of any like that.
Way to go!
Something 1 does not see everyday and it's good to see it 👍
Right over the date.
Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.
Neat!
Nice find.

Kennedys are my quest...
Nice find.
How do you look it up without a date?
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
They have a no date section. I think that this nickel is probably circa 1977-1980.

One of the oddest examples I have seen.
