@pocketpiececommems post regarding New Orleans Gold inspired me to post this as a guess-the-grade exercise for us. I always enjoy reading the feedback from forum members, as I learn so much more about our hobby each time. I believe that this coin will prompt interesting discussion. I will post the answer in about three days. Thanks for taking a look!

I'll say 58+. I don't see a lot of luster. Surfaces look quiet and nice.
AU53 is my uneducated gold guess.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Great looking coin. I'll guess AU58. Nice repunched date.

As I have seen this in person, I will remain silent.

It’s a lovely coin. It’s difficult to tell from the pictures how much luster remains but I’m going to guess 55-58+.
here's some feedback; that is a beautiful coin in very appealing condition.
I grade it 55 CAC, however my guess is NGC OH 53 Gold CAC.

Gold is really tough for me to grade. I think I see very slight rubs on some of the devices, particularly on the eagle's feathers on the reverse - so I will guess AU58.
Th fields, in particular, appear to display light friction. That, coupled with the subdued luster causes me to guess AU58.

Looks to be lightly circulated, but difficult to tell from the 2 pictures. Slightest rub on hair curl above the ear so I feel it would fall into the AU58 range. Nice looking coin.
I'll go 61.
AU details cleaned (even though it probably should be UNC details).
Very tough call given the flat appearance of the coin. If there is decent luster that simply was not captured, I would consider an MS grade. An attractive coin- But I have my doubts as to how the image captured the essence of the coin. Definitely a keeper.

The lighting is too flat and diffused to make any accurate assessment.
My guess is AU58 details.
I think there is something on the surface such as "putty" or PVC haze.
I also see a small fragment of slab plastic laying next to the center arrow shaft.
So I would also guess that the coin has been broken out of a holder at least once.
It's hard to tell from those pics, but my WAG would be 58
Dear forum members,
My apologies for the late report on the GTG for the 1845-O. I live in Western NC, and we were hit somewhat hard by the hurricane weather—we have lost cell, power, water, and WiFi. I had brief access to WiFi this evening and decided to follow up quickly on this coin.
Some years ago, NGC straight-graded the 1845-O Eagle as AU-58. I resubmitted the coin to NGC with the intent that NGC add variety (RPD) to the label—for some reason, that didn’t happen, but I did get some nice images. I was very impressed that @dcarr picked up the tiny piece of plastic on the reverse, and indeed, the coin was cracked out of its old holder.
This coin is consistent with a Winter-1 variety, the most common variety for the 1845-O.
I did have some questions about the fields on this coin, and while altering like the application of putty didn’t cross my mind, I wondered if AU55 might be a better fit for the grade. I noticed that a large number of forum members guessed correctly at AU58.
I continue to be blown away by the expertise of the forum members. Thank you for your feedback/comments!

Very nice fresh-looking branch mint $10 gold.
Our sympathies are certainly with those in NC and elsewhere hit so hard by the hurricane.
Too late, but I was guessing before I scrolled down. I was waffling between 58 and 55, only because I was having issue with the quality of the luster, what was wear and what was chatter, and overall surface quality.
Even after seeing the grade, I'm still kind of stuck in what I think she'd grade in hand.
Still a pretty nice coin!

Your thoughts mirror mine-- the luster is off slightly, and it is hard for me to describe....
.
This new picture is better for grading.
It does not appear to have any "putty", although it may have a little haze on it (which is not abnormal or detrimental).

I hope that you get your power back soon. We just got ours back last night.

Power just on -- no water / cell. We are OK but chaos is the new norm here. Thanks to everyone for the helpful comments on this coin. Seems like the consensus now is that the coin is not "details' which is great news (need some good news about now)...
Are you in the severely flooded area?

Now that’s a nice cornerstone coin.
