New Ebay policy?

ToreyTorey Posts: 216 ✭✭✭✭

I just went to make an offer on a coin and a message popped up stating that even if my offer is accepted, it will not be awarded to me until I pay. This means someone else's offer could be accepted as well but whoever completes the transaction first gets it.

Wonder if there is an option to process your payment still if the offer is accepted.

Anyone see the same message? Thoughts?

I've never seen this, but Ebay now saves my CC for automatic payment upon acceptance. Can you post a screenshot of what you see?

I saw it the first time the other day also.

There's more to this. I accepted an offer on Saturday. Buyer still hasn't paid but the item is no longer available for sale.

I know that some "make an offer" require you to chose a payment method before you can place your offer, I won't!
I email the seller of the coin and ask him to accept my offer that I have in the email and if he likes it he can send me a offer for the coin. I've done this a few times now worked out fine.I do this beacuse the payment method that I want to use is not available.

The require paymentcc or whatever used can be removed in account settings if offer not accepted and dont want it stored on ebay account.

    I wish I would have snapped a picture of the pop-up but I didn't.

So it must just be on certain listings.

A buddy of mine sold a gold coin on eBay a couple of years ago (his only sale ever). The buyer paid for the purchase with PayPal and my buddy sent it….to a scammer’s address. Seems after the transaction was completed, the scammer somehow got into the buyer’s data and changed the mailing information. Luckily PAYPAL returned the buyer’s money… Unbelievable how so many think stealing is okay ……until they get caught…and then they cry and plead ignorance.

    Ditto to the T.
I make contact with the seller and have them send me an acceptance invoice thru eBay.
I will not allow eBay direct use of my PayPal account.

Just got this. I clicked the “Learn More” link, but it didn’t work. Then when I made the offer, I had to select my credit card and it said I would be charged if the seller accepts, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

I just reopened my eBay store and this has also happened to me . I think if a member has a credit card on file it automatically charges when their offer is accepted .

I only had it happen with 1 buyer .With the other offers i accepted i got paid within a minute or 2 .

Mine auto pays. I love it. I make an offer, it gets shipped. I look down a couple of days later and it's almost to my house.
