The standard for fanams seems to have been around .585 gold, but also seems to have varied considerably by mint and by production date. The specifications were surprisingly loose, by gold coinage standards.

Apmex claim the ones they sell contain 0.014 troy ounces, which would be more mass than your entire coin has (0.39 grams), so I suspect that's an average. Or maybe they had just one of their coins carefully analysed and then assumed the rest would be about the same.

Is there anything that can be added after a reply by Sapyx? Absolutely nothing of course.

I just wanted to say that the gold fanams are among the coolest numismatic items to own, they are cheap (or they used to be) and I suggest that you keep this one Don. If it's a new purchase, congrats.
