Does Coin World still do a print edition?

So used to getting the online edition I’ve lost track. Are they still doing a print edition?

I can remember getting a complimentary copy of Coin World at the Baltimore Whitman Shows. I think they may have stopped providing those free issues at this point. Anyone else remember this?

I've been subscribing to Coin World for close to 60 years now - still getting the print edition (although I usually read it ahead of time when the online version posts each Saturday).

Yes, I remember it, and, yes, they still do it.

I subscribed to Coin World from 1965-2015. It got to be almost nothing worth reading in it, so I dropped my subscription.

Do they do a large print edition?

It is determined that they are still printing a hard copy edition. Anybody not getting their last edition or two? I hear that some trucking company in the midwest that moves mail around went belly up, so it is possible that this is delaying second class mail.

I read mine from the local library each week. Along with Linns stamp copy. Both hard copy.

Does anyone still have a copy of the Teletrade Auction Catalog that once came with an edition of Coin World or Numismatic News and wouldn't mind parting with one?

I have subscribed to Coin World for 50+ years, I just renewed last week and decided to go with the digital version as opposed to the print edition due to the fact that the print was $100 more per year.

Though the hard copy may still exist, I'm sure it is nothing compared to the issues in the 1960's and 70's. As mentioned, those were thick and very thorough. Took quite a while to read. And the classified ads were fantastic!

I used to go into Rarcoa to pick up my copy of CW which at the time was $1.95 and I'd hand CaptHenway two singles and he would give me a dateless Buffalo nickel in change.

That was Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. in the old Rarcoa location at 31 N. Clark St. in beautiful downtown Chicago!

I liked the "Trading Post" classified section.

I remember it well from the middle to late 1960s. Tabloid size printed on newsprint, two thick sections folded together at the vertical midpoint. Page after page of classified ads at the back of the 2nd section. Endless fascination for a kid collector.

The geometry of folding newsprint meant that the largest a section could be was 96 pages. Most weeklies were that, some large regional shows got a 96 and a 48 page section, During my time there the ANA edition was usually two 96 page sections.

I started subscribing in the mid 60's. Their Summer special was 66 weeks for $6. When I started working there in '73 I went to the circulation department to cancel my subscription and somebody gave me the metal plate used to print my name and mailing address on a copy before it went to the post office. I still have it somewhere. They had something like 150,000+ of these little plates in files sorted by zip code that had to be inked and imprinted on paper every week. Another 25,000+ copies went in bulk to coin shops and newsstands.

Not to disrail the thread... but I liked the Numismatic News also. Though not as large, has some nice sections and articles. And liked the renewal incentives also! I remember getting some free ASE.... and silver medals.... and a Lincoln Cent collection!

Mark this down under the "If only" category - in 1965, Coin World had a special promotion, for $150, you could buy a LIFETIME subscription (at the time, an annual subscription cost just $5). In hindsight, that would have been a great deal. However, at that time, I was only 15 and definitely did not have $150.

Remember NN as well. I liked the Alan Herbert error coin column.

Every Saturday was a trip to the local coin shop for the latest CW. How disappointing when it did not show up until Monday. After awhile eventually subscribed. I miss those days.

Yes, they do. I receive it every week.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
