My favorite French coin design - The Sower

Several years ago I picked up a 1916 French two franc piece, The Sower, which others have posted here not so long ago. This has always been one of my favorite world coin designs, along with the 20 franc French Rooster gold piece. Anyhow, I bought it raw at a Summer FUN show maybe 6 or 7 years ago and finally decided to get it certified by our hosts.
It came back MS66 which was a very nice surprise.

Nice! I’ve always liked that design also. Some of the members here have some really attractively toned examples.
I agree, beautiful design

Yes, I love the design as well. There are later renditions in silver Piefort (double thickness) that are larger but don't have the originality of the earlier pieces like yours. I got a 1914 C many years ago and liked the lustre so slabbed it with hosts & came back 66 also.
Nice there!
Well, just Love coins, period.
Nice coin! Like the design and love it when toned.
Lately though there have been some high prices for these at auction when they have some color.
My current "Box of 20"
The Sower is one of the great iconic designs on coins, IMO. Just beautiful.
I'm a fan of them as well and have kept a couple type pieces.

Have a set of these from 50 centimes to 5 francs. Perhaps the inspiration for our Walking Liberty?
Beautiful design and beautiful coin! Worthy of a set for sure.
@ADG French coinage has inspired quite a few of U.S. coin designs. There are many shared themes, such as the Phyrigian Cap and depictions of Liberty as seen on some Civil War Tokens and Barber Dimes, Quarters, and Half Dollars.
