Is this a known error?

Here's one that has me confused. Blew through a penny box and came across a 1982 large date 3.1g normal but the mint mark is off centered. New error?

Here's the one your looking for.....1982 D small date (note the sexy #2 in the date) 3.1 copper cent. There are also some that the #8 font makes it a small date.
Here's the sexy #2 small date.
    (what?)
This seems to be what your stating but not in a large date style.

Not an error at all, at that time the mintmark was punched into each individual die by hand so placement can vary from die to die.

The D mint mark can be anywhere below the date and to the right of the bust to be acceptable.
There would be probably close to a million coins struck with the D in the same position as yours.

I go with @Greenstang and @lcut, it is a hand punched mintmark.
