Five Ounce Military Metal: Seeking Information

I took a flyer on this metal and if anyone here served in the military with possible information on it (or are metal collectors) I'd be appreciative. I did a Google image reverse search and came up empty.
The seller also had no idea.
It is about three inches across and weights five ounces.
I don't have it in hand so have not inspected the edges.

Challenge Coin?
Thanks!
I didn't have the same success when searching closed/sold listings on eBay.
I think it is too heavy/large to be a challenge coin.

could there be a "store" on campus that would sell these?
I checked and didn't see anything on line.
It is also difficult to locate photos online. The one I did see was the auction I purchased this from.
I like the idea of using this as a paperweight, as long as that is not considered disrespectful by those who served.

I guess I have seen 'antiqued' silver look like that. It would probably say on an edge somewhere if it was.
I'm guessing stainless steel or pewter.
I'll definitely be checking it when It arrives.

This definitely looks like something that would be sold in the gift shop at Annapolis. No chance of being silver in my opinion. Probably antiqued stainless steel. Also, wayyy too big to be a challenge coin.
Oversized medal, useful as paperweight. No disrespect in using it as such. Also my opinion, but I was a grunt.
Congrats

My guess is pewter. Pewter makes some very nice detailed castings where stainless steel does not.
Almost certainly an Annapolis gift shop item of relatively recent vintage. It just has the look of such an item.
One of my favorite things to do when I visited the USAF bases is head to the commissary and BX, and shop. They always have the best selection of food from all over the world. Christmas time is most interesting, and I always found great holiday candy and sweets. But the thing most fun was all the Challenge coins, medals and patriotic trinkets. I have quiet the collection.
I could easily see this medal for sale in one or a Naval giftshop.
I agree it is too large to be a Challenge coin. I missed the " Five ounce" in the header. Me bad for reading too quick.
The seller canceled the sale and refunded me.
He stated he could not locate the item.

I hope you gave him negative feedback.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Yeah, not to pleased with that cancellation.

I wonder if the Annapolis Navel Academy gift shop has a web site where to can buy this medal.

I don't see this medal offered anywhere.

Couldn't locate it? It's probably holding down the papers on his desk or keeping the door open.
An enormous medal doesn't fall through the cracks somewhere.

I agree.
I could either choose to be vindictive or show grace.
Either way, the medal is gone.
I chose to chill-out and not give it anymore thought.

Choose grace...some sellers are just like that. I did a BIN a couple of months ago on an National Parks medal album that was listed at a fair price and after a couple of weeks without shipping the seller cancelled the sale due to not being able to locate the item. Irked me for sure but not worth my time (although it would have been nice to get the album!!)

This Pewter Medal was available at their gift shop circa 1994 - 1995 celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Naval Academy. Several variations were available along with other, pewter, 150th anniversary gift items.
