Do I let it go and keep it or send it back? TPG Error ** Response Added**

Just sent a bunch of LMC off for grading to NGC with a voucher. I was trying to make some high-grade cents and did make a few winners. I got this one back and it has me confused. It came from the same rolls and is nowhere near brown, let alone red-brown. As it stands, it is pop 1/0 at NGC as MS66BN, which I think is kinda cool but it is not brown. Should I send it back for correction given that it a likely mistake as the other coins all graded RD.

Send it back (on their dime).

Looks like a mechanical error. At the next coin show where they attend, drop it off for correction.

I would keep the coin as is. I think it has much more allure being a nice coin in top pop. The coin has a likelihood to darken over time, so having it already in a tough to get holder designation is a win.
Mechanical error does not equal kinda cool IMO. I'd fix it.

In the submitter agreement, you signed an agreement that you would return mechanical errors back to NGC to be rectified.

If you contact their CS they will pay postage both ways. In my experience with returning mechanical errors, they take care of them quickly.
I did not know that. Ill have to look and contact customer service.
Contact CS, they will get this fixed quickly. Not having it corrected is essentially fraud if you were to sell it. The thought that it will turn BN in the holder is highly unlikely to happen in your lifetime.

Doubt that the "fraud" conviction would yield a long sentence on a five dollar coin.

Doesn't their 'terms of service' require for realized mechanical errors?
The holder and the coin don't match. The OCD in me would freak.

So I just heard back from NGC customer service and they said it was NOT a mechanical error. I am fine owning the top pop 74D in 66BN, LOL

So let it set on the window sill in the kitchen where it gets some sunshine and is around hydrogen sulfide for a while, and NGC's prediction will come true sooner than later.
Did they see a photo of it, or did they just think you were calling and saying the coin should grade higher/better? If the latter, they didn't understand. If the former, someone who knows something about coins needs to be involved in assisting you.
That coin should grade 5 RD. Too many contact marks on the obverse for a 6 RD grade. This whole scenario is bizarre.

"Sou Mangueira......."
Then it appears that either they didn’t understand the situation or they have a brand new term in place of “mechanical error”. And we don’t yet know what that new term is.😉

I would ask that it be corrected. However, I agree with Elcontador above and you should make certain that they will maintain the MS66 grade as it would probably go to MS65 if sent in again raw, especially if sent to PCGS.
I sent them the same photos I posted here.
