when a thread goes off the rails and you didn't have have an opportunity to muck it up further make a meaningful contribution
to keep this sports related: 24 days until the first en eff el game that means something
also sports related: next week i go to St. Louis with my old man to catch 3 games against the Brewers. a few rows behind the Cards dugout, pictures to come. but here's how clueless i am about hardball nowadays: today i was ruminating about who i wanted to try and get graphs from, and the first names that popped into my head were Cecil Cooper, Ben Ogilvie, Garry Templeton, and Tito Landrum
last time we went to STL a homeless man confronted my dad.......in broad daylight.......in front of a federal building downtown......and unloaded a haymaker at him. and my 76-yr-old dad dodged it like a prize fighter. that spectacle currently resides at the #1 most surreal and #1 proudest moment spot in my life. my dad looking like Floyd Mayweather, and me possessing the proper comportment.........because i came within a whisker of bludgeoning that dude from behind
here's hoping for a little less excitement this time around

Good luck on your trip Galaxy! Stay hydrated, I'm sure it will be baking there in St. Louis. Would be cool if you got a William Contreras auto. He is a stud and will haunt my Braves for years for foolishly trading him away.
thanks bro!
and noted!

I’ll be watching and looking for you.
Contreras. Chourio. Adames. Peralta.
I guess you guys are talking about the Brewer Contreras but the Cardinal Contreras destroyed the Royals a couple of games ago.
glad to hear you are getting some quality time with your pop. cherish it! what I wouldnt give for another ball game with my dad.
Have fun, stay hydrated and dont forget your boxing gloves this time!
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Well said. One more ball game would be priceless. Even better...a night at the race track.
Any plans, dare I mention it,for a wager on the games? Anyway enjoy your trip.
@galaxy27
Have a fun and safe trip brother! 🍻
If things get out of hand a second time around, just remember, get it on video!! (get in on video with the one hand while saving the other to save Pops if needed. 😎
Enjoy your trip.

tonight's seats, and an obligatory arch pic lol
i can feel it coming......"can I please get your autograph? and who are you?"

Just tell 'em you're Galaxy from CU.
They'll move ya to the front of the line.
"aren't you the idiot who lost a grand on a golf bet?"

I may have dreamed this up, but I believe there was a discussion taking place about this

Looking forward to more pictures bro, have a blast!!!!!
St Louis was the cure for insomnia with one hit thru 7, then things got interesting. they were down 3-2 in the 9th with the bases loaded and one out, but the Brewers' closer gassed the last two hitters
this was strike 3 to end the game

Four fifths of the NL Central.
Enjoy the go.
Myers tomorrow. Rookie if you’re not familiar. Long journey to the show. Had a tough start but has been one of the best pitchers in the league the last 3 months. ERA under 2.00 since the start of June. Best chance for the Cards might be the Thursday game against Peralta, but he’s been great in day games.
You look somewhat religious with that partial halo over your head. Maybe you will be bestowed with divine intervention with your BMW tournament play this week.😀
Thanks for the pics.
This has all the makings of Sports Talk best thread of the year. 😊
Yikes. But at least 25 oz. That is the advantage of visiting a beer, town.
My thoughts exactly!
you will never convince me the arch isnt trash !
when i got there in 1995 i expected it to span the river!
sad little thing next to it
two exemplary baseball hitters
one had 3,630 in the big leagues
one once hit a frozen rope in a t-ball game and ran to third base
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
looks like you had a great time!!!
did your dad have to box anyone this time?
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
The narrating of this thread by @galaxy27 is better than any other commentators in a booth 😂😂😂
Seems like you may still have a left knee sprain from that running effort. 😉
Maybe the Dodgers should use that play as an affective warning for Shohei Ohtani's base stealing. 😎

we created a re-enactment 3 years later
it took place on the opposite side of the street my dad is walking toward......right where the red light is on the corner
broad daylight, huge federal building right there, arch in the background
except this time I was ready.......I had nunchucks in my back pocket
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
check out these STL studs
Smith, Buck, Brock, Hornsby, Musial, Herzog, Gibson..........and in honor of one of my good buds from college who had an unhealthy fascination with this man, Ray Lankford 😂

I love that. I am a big Gibson fan. the man was a menace on the mound. I think he is underrated and would take him over koufax. what a great post season performer
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I am glad you had nunchucks ready. Just so you can start preparing early, I have heard bowstaffs are very effective as well!

I still remember sneaking out of work about 30mins early one night, rushing home then finding the Cards/Cubs game on TV and literally within like two minutes of walking in the door, Bic Mac hit the homerun that tied Maris. Good times.

what an awesome season that was. I was riveted by the home run chase. I remember thinking it was kind of funny that Mac was hitting bombs all season, and I think it was the record breaker that was a screaming line drive that barely made it over the wall. and then Mac almost missed first base!
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I didn’t see Walker Cooper or Mort Cooper… Johnny Mize or Marty Marion…. Not even Joe Medwick or Lon Warneke.
Seriously hope you had a great time thinking about something as simple as how great it is to be a fan and enjoy all aspects of MLB including its rich history.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
at the top of the arch as I type this

Are you going to a riverboat casino tonight? Last time I was there I swear I was playing blackjack next to Angelina Jolie. 100 degree at the old ball park.

Only fitting Big Mac broke the hr record there. What with 1/2 of the golden arches and his nickname Big Mac.
current situation

Looks like you had great seats and view.
You’ll have a good view of Myers shaking off Contreras against Arenado after spiking that change. You can tell BB21 who’s calling those pitches as he taps on his right knee where you can see the pitchcom
know what stinks?
Yes...Yes I Do...
Sitting on ice...🧊🧊🧊 And Not Being Able To Do A Damn Thing...😞😞😞
is anyone watching this game?
Milwaukee's closer is having a meltdown for the ages
one out away from a win and he throws 8 straight balls to walk in 2 runs to tie the game
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Yup. Oof.
does that game happen if i wasn't here?
this is a walk-off grand slam swing my friends

Glad you got to see a good game. Cards are right back in the race!
@bgr
what's up with Williams? i checked his stats out and that dude has been 💰
but he was shaky yesterday and tonight he epically imploded
