when a thread goes off the rails and you didn't have have an opportunity to muck it up further make a meaningful contribution

to keep this sports related: 24 days until the first en eff el game that means something

also sports related: next week i go to St. Louis with my old man to catch 3 games against the Brewers. a few rows behind the Cards dugout, pictures to come. but here's how clueless i am about hardball nowadays: today i was ruminating about who i wanted to try and get graphs from, and the first names that popped into my head were Cecil Cooper, Ben Ogilvie, Garry Templeton, and Tito Landrum

last time we went to STL a homeless man confronted my dad.......in broad daylight.......in front of a federal building downtown......and unloaded a haymaker at him. and my 76-yr-old dad dodged it like a prize fighter. that spectacle currently resides at the #1 most surreal and #1 proudest moment spot in my life. my dad looking like Floyd Mayweather, and me possessing the proper comportment.........because i came within a whisker of bludgeoning that dude from behind

here's hoping for a little less excitement this time around

Good luck on your trip Galaxy! Stay hydrated, I'm sure it will be baking there in St. Louis. Would be cool if you got a William Contreras auto. He is a stud and will haunt my Braves for years for foolishly trading him away.

I guess you guys are talking about the Brewer Contreras but the Cardinal Contreras destroyed the Royals a couple of games ago.

St Louis was the cure for insomnia with one hit thru 7, then things got interesting. they were down 3-2 in the 9th with the bases loaded and one out, but the Brewers' closer gassed the last two hitters

this was strike 3 to end the game

Myers tomorrow. Rookie if you’re not familiar. Long journey to the show. Had a tough start but has been one of the best pitchers in the league the last 3 months. ERA under 2.00 since the start of June. Best chance for the Cards might be the Thursday game against Peralta, but he’s been great in day games.

You look somewhat religious with that partial halo over your head. Maybe you will be bestowed with divine intervention with your BMW tournament play this week.😀

    two exemplary baseball hitters

one had 3,630 in the big leagues

Maybe the Dodgers should use that play as an affective warning for Shohei Ohtani's base stealing. 😎

    we created a re-enactment 3 years later

it took place on the opposite side of the street my dad is walking toward......right where the red light is on the corner

broad daylight, huge federal building right there, arch in the background

except this time I was ready.......I had nunchucks in my back pocket B)

I love that. I am a big Gibson fan. the man was a menace on the mound. I think he is underrated and would take him over koufax. what a great post season performer

I am glad you had nunchucks ready. Just so you can start preparing early, I have heard bowstaffs are very effective as well!

I still remember sneaking out of work about 30mins early one night, rushing home then finding the Cards/Cubs game on TV and literally within like two minutes of walking in the door, Bic Mac hit the homerun that tied Maris. Good times.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,200 ✭✭✭✭✭

what an awesome season that was. I was riveted by the home run chase. I remember thinking it was kind of funny that Mac was hitting bombs all season, and I think it was the record breaker that was a screaming line drive that barely made it over the wall. and then Mac almost missed first base!

I didn’t see Walker Cooper or Mort Cooper… Johnny Mize or Marty Marion…. Not even Joe Medwick or Lon Warneke.

Seriously hope you had a great time thinking about something as simple as how great it is to be a fan and enjoy all aspects of MLB including its rich history.

Only fitting Big Mac broke the hr record there. What with 1/2 of the golden arches and his nickname Big Mac.

You’ll have a good view of Myers shaking off Contreras against Arenado after spiking that change. You can tell BB21 who’s calling those pitches as he taps on his right knee where you can see the pitchcom

one out away from a win and he throws 8 straight balls to walk in 2 runs to tie the game
