Hi,
I am new to coin collecting and new to this forum. I'm looking for someone who knows more than me to help me understand whats going on with this wheat penny. My first assumption was deebasement after mintage; however, Im not 100% so if y'all have any thoughts to what this could be please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
Post mint damage. (PMD)
Not an error of any kind.
Gotcha, I appreciate it!
PMD as stated, but there's most likely more to the story.
Early vending machines accepted coins based only on size. Pennies were sometimes reduced in size to pass as dimes in vending machines.
Your cent has no specific premium as an altered coin, but if I found one I'd definitely keep it as a novelty from an earlier time.
It has been around the block quite a few times.
PMD as stated above.
