    Bottom. The feathers show up much better and the toning on both sides isn't as harsh, so the devices still look pleasant to the eyes.

    Plus, the top one has a mark, or "chatter", on the left field of the eagle. No marks on the bottom.

    It is true the feathers show up better on the bottom but I like the color much better on the top.

    It could just be the PCGS photography but the 1888, 1887, and 1890 all look like the coin on top has better luster. I always prefer strong luster even with a bit of chatter.

    First and third post, top coin.

    Second post, it's a toss up. (Both are really nice.)

    Fourth post, the bottom coin.

    This is under the assumption the photos reflect the actual appearance.

    nice coins, some tough choices.
    1888 Go like the bottom coin based on strike
    1887 Zs like the bottom coin based on eye appeal and color
    1890 As like the top coin based on luster and eye appeal
    1878 As like the top coin, one of those examples that stands out and looks exceptional

    All based on taste and preference.
