An educational forum on early copper coinage at Summer FUN

BillJonesBillJones Posts: 34,052 ✭✭✭✭✭

I will be giving a presentation about U. S. early copper coins at the Summer FUN convention. It will be held on Thursday, July 11 at 2:30 PM. The location is room W 202 B.

The convention will be located in Hall WA1 which is the convention space closest to the Rosen Center Hotel.

I will be talking about the early American copper coinage from the 1787 Fugio Cent to the 1814 Classic Head Cent. I will also cover counterfeit detection, very briefly. There will be many pictures of early U.S. coinage.

I hope to see many of your there!

You mentioned a very brief discussion of counterfeit detection. Is it brief because there are one or two key elements that you should look for when it comes to counterfeit copper or brief because of time limitations?

It’s a matter of time. I covered this topic in January at Winter FUN. My assignment is to cover the history and other information concerning the early copper from the 1787 Fugio Cent to the 1814 Classic Head.

FUN posts videos of the presentations on their website a few weeks or months after the event.

Wish I was attending the show because no doubt, I'd sit in on your presentation if I was there.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the show. But I will recommend this presentation, because I attended Bill Jones' presentation at the January 2024 FUN show, and it was very informative!

Just actually saw the presentation and Bill did an outstanding job as usual!

I would like to correct an item in the counterfeit portion of the talk though; the image below was described as a counterfeit coin in a counterfeit holder but it is not! The holder is genuine and this example along with several others were deceptive enough to be certified genuine by the TPGs. I actually own 3 in genuine holders...
