DO NOT LIST or CONSIGN WITH PWCC

BrinsdBrinsd Posts: 87 ✭✭

I have long been a customer with PWCC, Buying just under $4000 in the last year or so and Selling over $20,000 in the last few years.

Last month I sent them my 1986 Fleer Basketball Graded PSA 9 Set. The Auction ended and funds were/are available since June 12th. Due to their new ownership and new processes. They determined to pay me out I must first have my identity verified.

They are no longer sending checks. Only funds transfers to a bank account.

No big deal I thought, they sent a link, I completed the steps and submitted the ID Verification successfully. Since then I have heard nothing back beyond they would contact me.

The ID Verification process took days to complete as they are no longer taking phone calls and are only responding through email or text based chat on their website. When you've completed the ID Verification process they ask that you contact them to notify them. I did that. Three times.

As of today Friday 6/28/24 it's been 3 business days since my last communication was received from their web based customer support representative. The representative just yesterday acknowledged that my ID Verification was completed successfully. They assured me someone would contact me to complete my funds transfer. Today I have tried to reach them all day.

I've emailed Brent the Previous Owner/CEO, Max my consignment coordinator, Bailey the customer service representative handling my chat and emails, Areyanna in Accounting/Trust and Security departments with not a single response. Their phones all say the Mailbox is full and hangs up on you.

This is scary! They owe me well over $5000.00 on this payout which has been available since 6/12/24 and more from the last auction after that.

Be warned, this is not the PWCC it has been for the last few years or longer.

If you are having a similar issue or have a way to contact anyone please leave a response here.

Thank you

Bill

Is there anything Fanatics touches that doesn't immediately becomes significantly worse?

Sorry for your experience but thanks for the info. Personally, I only buy from them and have noticed recently they are the slowest (by far) of all the auction houses for sending things out that I've won.

It sucks for you, but think your post title is overblown a little bit. Haven't read a single report of them absconding with someone's money.... Might be more of an issue that you have a high balance. I wouldn't freak the hell out after only 2 weeks!

PWCC is in the process of going bye-bye.

Fanatics is in the process of rebranding them.

Also, PWCC has allegedly been involved in some fairly unscrupulous things over the last five to ten years. Denial was the play forever but anyone who followed things could decide for themselves what the truth of the matter was.

Any business that does this should be questioned but in today’s world all people judge a business by is the sole criteria of ‘I don’t care about the how or what that it does as long as it makes me money’ and simply put, that’s a tragedy waiting to happen.

To the OP, I imagine you’ll be paid once they transition from PWCC to Fanatics.

My advice would be to cash out as soon as you can and form a relationship with an ethical, reputable auction house.

The Fanatics Group is neither of those things and anyone who does business with them should not come crying when they get screwed over:

Here’s a fun proverb to sum it up for those of you reading along…

I feel the same way about eBay. Didn’t receive card after a month. Seller doesn’t care. Left him a negative. eBay removed it. Disputing with PayPal. Time to only buy in person. eBay protects sellers away too much.

Sorry to hear your selling experience.
I too am having a horrible experience just buying from them.
All items default to the Vault, and they will not budge, despite multiple emails.
No live active phone #. Very unhelpful, and obviously company is being poorly run.
See my post: PWCC Vault scam.

I think it was confirmed that PWCC is rebranding and/or closing when fanatics opens their marketplace (the National is the likely kick off)

Ebay is incredibly buyer centric. I’m sorry to say but if you got screwed as a buyer you did something wrong most likely.

No.. I paid and didn’t get the card. It’s that simple. Tracking shows that it didn’t get delivered. eBay is stalling and keeps extending a waiting period. I think 30 days is overkill and at this point they are stealing from me.

I agree Rufuss! It's only been 3 days and the transaction has been verified and official. OP should probably wait a little longer before preparing his lawsuit.

I don't even know why I feel obliged to defend PWCC, I didn't use them that much, and I never even sold close to 20K worth of cards.

eBay only protects sellers when a buyer does something wrong or it was NOT the seller's fault (but not necessarily at the expense of the buyer). If the item tracking shows shipped and not delivered yet, eBay will extend the timeline to make sure it is lost. If they refund you and the item then gets delivered there is no way to get the money back from you.... In your case, if you went and opened a Paypal dispute before the case was decided, you broke eBay's rules. So if Paypal doesn't decide in your favor, then eBay will probably automatically rule against you for being a douche! :D

jayhawke, I hate to pile on but in general mixing in another subject like ebay to a PWCC thread can sometimes piss off the OP because their thread starts to become confusing and usually ends up derailed.

I might be doing the math wrong, but if you sent them at PSA 9 86 Fleer basketball set, I would think they should owe you well over $20k.

I wanted to ask what a PSA 9 set went for! >:)

I remember when PWCC would front you money ahead of the auction once they had your graded cards in hand.

All of my auctions with PWCC went well. Plenty of bidders and plenty of bidding. It was a great place to browse cards.

@Cakes it's not 3 days. It was 3 days since they stopped communicating with me completely after I spent 2 weeks going through their new ID Verification Process. It's been 2 weeks without any resolution or payment from when I first posted this.

BTW...They didn't need to verify me to take my submission.
They didn't need to verify to sell me cards.
They have paid me by check for years and know exactly who I am.

It's been since June 12th since my funds are available but they have not paid me out. They notified me on 6/12 my funds were available. I am in the third week of no response or payment. I'm not preparing my lawsuit, thanks. I'm simply warning others that they are not conducting business as usual and asking if others are experiencing the same issues.

  • bgrbgr Posts: 1,865 ✭✭✭✭✭

It’s bad form that they’re not communicating with you but the account verification is both there for your protection and a somewhat new requirement that’s coming from the payment services companies like Stripe and Cybersource. I don’t know if PWCC uses either of them or who they might use but they are not likely to have their own payment processor capabilities. So it’s probably not their choice and that’s why it’s now because companies using these services had to be in compliance this past April or May or so depending on how far you wanted to push the envelope.

So I would suggest soldiering on and sorting out that account verification. It sucks but meh.

I still don’t really understand the details though. Whether or not the price I posted was for your set the $30-$40K range is reasonable and trends with the quality of the Jordan. Did they pay out most of it or were you being coy with the amount saying ‘over $5000’?

I had a weird thing happen on a recent auction. I'd left a bid and ended up winning a very low price card. When I went to pay the only available way to do it was to put in my banking info. They'd removed all the options to pay by card, etc...

I reached out and told them to make card payment available or they could remove my bid and I would never place another bid on one of their auctions. It was fixed within 30 minutes.

I have no idea if that was some sort of glitch, error or just an attempt to obtain banking info.

Started buying from them again after Fanatics fired Brent. Have had no issues. As much as I can’t stand him; his vault idea apparently caught on. His buying on loans from your cards did what trimming should have and finally killed the business.

Don't trust anyone with you personal Banking info/credit that would not trust to take a bullet for you.

Tried to purchase an online NHL related gift from fanatic for a nephew this month and there was no credit card info only bank account.

I sadly did still buy it from them via one of their NHL shops which happens to b near my office. I paid cash and the clerk argued with me when I refused to supply any email or other information like my name..

So not a system glitch, they have it set to work that way a percentage of the time to see what they can gather. I sure they have a fiscal component to the harvesting and more often than not customers provide them the info
