Hmm, with just a couple of minutes in photoshop adjusting levels, gamma and highlights i got a definite improvement. I'll try it on a few more new images and see if those values stay relatively static and can be turned into pre-sets to share with the photo dept.
Despite the photoshop adjustments, Phil's photo has an excellent amount of contrast on the reverse, that looks impossible to replicate based on the new TV.
PCGS had a simikar problem in Europe, trying to find a good coin photographer , a problem that they never sold. Eventually, those of us who wanted true TVs (in Phil's time), paid more to have the coins sent to the US for grading and imaging (I remember myself submitting practically a whole box of my best looking coins, to have them imaged and encapsulated in the 35th year anniversary slab).
We can deal with their bad images for post WW2 coins at €15 a piece all included (usually the obverse and reverse of the entire slab, because the close ups are a disaster). But that's in France.
Judging from the amount of good to excellent coin photographers seen at major coin shows, I don't undersrand why they do not start examining potential candidates for the job, by advertising the opening here first.
Well, I think they are aware of the issue… Hope they decide it’s important enough to do something. I traded messages with Nat Turner a few weeks ago and he said they were working on it.
The most recent is first in the order, oldest is last. The results speak for themselves.
All the TV's shown in the pop reports are the same coin.
(Aside note, the pop report for this coin is likely off by 4)
This is a coin I cracked out and resubbed. Went 63 to 64. I was fortunately able to request the original TV be used. This was before Phil left but during the decline phase.

Yeezus that’s dramatic and unfortunately consistent with my experience as well

No examples... no resubmissions within the scope of TV.

So which one most represents the coin in hand?

Same coin????
If so depressing.
With toners it's always hard to answer that question. Usually the answer is "both". Personally, i think videos are the best way to go for toners:

I’m not submitting until this is fixed. The Trueview travels with the coin and bidders take the picture into account. Shame.

@Boosibri do you think that will change?
The first image looks closer to your video Roman.

My last submission of five coins was received 10/17/2023 and shipped 10/20/2023.
Now after all the true views that I have seen here, I can say that I got one with that finish:
And here are two images that i just took of how the coin looks:
They must have used some program to make those finishes, you can tell by this image on the nose, this coin was on the same set I sent for grading.
That Salvadorean coin is sweet @ELuis
Thank you, it is, from all my coins it is one of the best.
If I go to view the coin there, no image:

Probably because I complained about how bad it was.

First TV is very over exposed, I'm surprised they don't see it that way in photography dept.

it's nuts at this point, any of us could do better with our phones, you can't submit coins when it's like this
They have this now...
Ugh, so ugly. Kills the value of the coin at auction
