Grades are in! & Review of Monarch Set

Hello Everyone again. I just got some grades in so I thought I would make a follow up on how this set is doing. I am getting very close to maxing out what I am capable of affording but maybe not what I am capable of finding!

The upgrades:

William & Mary continue to be one of the most difficult coins to find in high grades. I was about to buy this example from Spink and the next day the cope collection was posted and in that collection was an incredible NGC MS62 example. I did my best to win it and just could not compete at that level of auction. Nevertheless I was able to upgrade my prior XF45 to this lovely AU55 below.

George III is perhaps one of the easiest monarchs to find in high grade. I originally owned a nice Northumberland which is a scarcer type for him but finally decided to let it go when I came across this lovely example. It's hosed in an early 7 digit blue holder and I sent it in for trueview in holder just before Phil Arnold left PCGS photography team. Glad I did because it looks great and I was able to keep it in the holder.

The William IV slot was a bit of an adventure for me and I felt like I came into a flurry of them in a short time period. I managed to purchase one in a London Coins holder which I cracked out and it graded MS64. I then purchased one in an NGC MS65 holder which I cracked out and could see was not going to grade 65 at PCGS and it ended up in a PCGS MS64 holder so I was stumped with a tie! CRO posted thee example below in a NGC66 holder and it was every bit there and a gorgeous coin to boot! I purchased it from him and cracked and re-subbed. Got my results just last night and it graded MS66.

I actually collect GV shillings so I have a whole bunch of these to choose from but this is clearly the nicest toned example I have in MS66. Cracked from an older NGC MS66 holder.

So add to this as well I thought I would show where I am at with the future of this set.

Here is the breakdown of the pops available and you can see at my highlights places where I would be interested to upgrade in the future. I will of course try and always prioritize eye appeal over grade but often when you get such high grades they go hand in hand.

Hope y'all enjoyed following along with my journey!
