I like this one, and the nicest early SF coin besides decent 1854 S and 1856 S gold dollars:

    Beautiful luster!

A very well thought out set, with lovely and rare coins! My local coin club president asked me to do a presentation on the SF mint. You know a lot more about it than I do! Gotta research.

In case this is helpful for your research - Richard Kelly and Nancy Oliver have written books about the early SF mints, along with a number of articles in The Numismatist and other journals. I believe they have done the most thorough research of anyone on the infamous 1870 cornerstone coins.

David McCarthy also gave a wonderful presentation at the SF Historical Society two years ago about the events that led to the formation of SF Mint and some of the Mint's most famous coins (as well as some of the pioneer coins that preceded it).
