Undergraded Uncertified Genuine U.S. Coin in an online auction

Impossible, you say? Maybe not a significant coin but undergraded, in my opinion. Don't know what it will sell for, and it's not going to be much, but I like this guy's grading. His other coins are fairly accurately graded and this may be an example of a good dealer source, even if you don't like the venue.

$8 at current bid for a $5.5 melt value XF, then add the 17.5% juice and shipping is not a good deal imo.

I don't agree. $9.50 for a nice original AU 1932 quarter with most of it's original luster seems OK to me. Photo is bad but coin still looks nice. The other 1932 graded VF was more like XF-AU, and sold for $7. These are pretty small premiums over silver value.

Anybody do business with Marc Langston, this seller?

Given the shipping and grading expenses, it’s not worth it to have it graded. Therefore it’s raw. There many coins like that.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I agree.

My point was only that decent coins at decent prices can be found on those internet sites considered shady by some. That's all.

Shipping and grading expenses aren't unique to these sites. Heritage and Stack's have them, too.

And, yes, there are plenty of coins like this. The slightly better than melt silver is what gets saved every time the price of silver spikes. I sold all of my XF WL halves when silver spiked above my collector asking price for those coins and now have the AU-UNCs left. Many dealers do this.

But, again, I think that Marc Langston may be a coin dealer (like us) who just uses this venue. That's why I ask if anyone has done business with him. I guess that nobody wants to admit it if they have or he doesn't do much business.

There is nothing "shady" about Proxibid. It's just an auction service that you yourself could purchase if you wanted.

Where? The proof and mint sets in OGP? Or the certified coins? That's most of the auction. And I couldn't find a single whizzed coin when I looked.

Members here profess to hate trolls with questions from outside our collecting field but we seem to tolerate plenty of trolls among our ranks.

How many whizzed coins can you show me? I see zero in the first 500 lots but two lots labelled as "cleaned". Looks like a decent dealer selling collector coins at reasonable prices but being falsely disparaged by an esteemed member or two here who just can't resist trashing a dealer without cause. You got the response that you wanted from the adult. Now grow up and stop playing games with adults.

We don't need trolling harassment from immature cartoon characters.
