Complete direction change with pictures

Starting in 2022, I began looking at a large conglomeration of coins.

Some looked like it was a collection but overall just too many directions were being worked on.

I had lost interest in collecting as a whole (personal reasons), and talked with my friend John at Silicon Valley coins about my changes in collecting enjoyment.

We came up with a plan to reduce all the jetsam and flotsam and improve what was already a pretty nice slabbed us type set.

Here are the additions. These 13 coins replace several hundred (or more) coins which were in albums, 2x2s, slabs and rolls.

I couldn’t be happier.

I genuinely appreciate the help as well as support John has provided in the two decades we’ve been friends.

There’s a couple more things coming, but I don’t know what they are yet.

1797 cent

1909 MPL

1866 2 cent

1864 3 cent silver

1837 half dime

1867 half dime

1838 o dime

1916 SQL

1800 dollar

1836 Gobrecht dollar

1862 gold dollar

1876 cc 5 dollar

1928 st gaudens 20 dollar

I’m pretty inept at uploading, but I think the editor has it out for me :)

I also changed the spelling of a word that I apparently totally mistyped or got spellchecked!

It’s been a fun change in direction.

Wonderful - you have clearly focused on eye appeal.
Hard to pick a favorite but really like the 38-O half- dime and dime. And the Gobrecht. And the CC half eagle.

The coins you choose to fill your new collecting pursuits are beautiful.

I like them all and think the 1916 SLQ and the Matte VDB Lincoln are awesome inclusions.

It's all about what the people want...

Getting rid of your "accumulation" and focusing on a "collection" is definitely the right way to go because look at the quality of the coins you know have.

Really nice moves. Quality almost always trumps quantity in this game. They're all nice but I really like the SLQ and the no-stars seated coins.

Big win switching out an accumulation for those terrific type coins.

Its actually 8 boxes of about 18 coins each. It’s still a large number of coins, but much easier to manage.

It’s not a full US type set yet, and I don’t expect I’ll ever get there.
But it’s got a robust set of most US type.

    Wonderful change of direction!

I should send John a 20-lb box of junk coins to see what he sends back.
