Have you used other (non coin) forums to get up to speed on topics you have interest in?

I've been shopping for my wife's birthday present. She works from home, and I've decided to get her a 5 or 10 gallon aquarium with a few fish in it to have some little work buddies. I'm learning so much about tank sizes, different filters, etc...Have you ever jumped into another hobby world that you don't know so much about?

I wouldn't say jumped into another hobby that I knew little about, but I am a member of a few classic car forums. I've been working on and rebuilding cars for almost as long as I've been collecting coins, but it helps sometimes to get opinions on areas or brands of vehicles that I'm less familiar with.

I use YouTube for life hacks or maintenance and repair shortcuts dealing with most everything to do with mechanics, carpentry , electrical,, farming, ranching, etc. Forums ? Only here and the precious metal forums, typically. Otherwise, I'm an anti-social curmudgeon working in a coin shop.

Sort of the same idea, except I use specialized car forums to help troubleshoot or find repair instructions for whatever junk I'm currently driving. The Saturn Fans forum probably saved me a couple thousand dollars over the time I drove my SL2.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

Sure, most new hobbies or ventures can be improved by researching specific forums.

I'm a fish... collector :D. It only worked out for me after about 20 died. Lots to learn about the water parameters.

Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard

The only Internet forums I participate in are a couple of computer game forums, and the coin forums.

You can tell from my avatar I am on firearms forums for info/advice.

My screen name might indicate that I am also on other forums looking up music information.

So very true and as another member noted it can really help with home items too. AC tech wanted to charge me $1,300, after 15min on YouTube and $90 in parts I did the work myself. It's crazy what those guys charge.
