Question about grading process

If my submission moves from "Research & ID" to "Grading," does that mean it passed it authentication? This submission is having the card and autograph graded.

    No.

It means they have verified that what you sent is what you said it is.

‘Grading’ is when your card is being authenticated and evaluated and then it will head to Assembly is it’s been deemed ‘good’.

After assembly is ‘grades revealed’ when they bill you and you see how you did.

Curious about the rare, mysterious and beautiful 1951 Wheaties Premium Photos?

Research & ID is just confirming that what you say you sent matches what you sent. Sometimes a submitter misidentifies a card (wrong parallel or something like that.) Also, sometimes a submitter manually inputs what they are sending if an oddball card, thus it has to be researched and properly identified, a spec inputted into the system and attached to the submitted card. Also, when your submission moves from Grading to assembly and QA, you still won't know if it has "Passed" authentication, as even the failed ones go through all the steps. You'll find out when the grades are available online or you open the package and see slabs and no cards returned in cardsavers with a rejection reason sticker attached. Good Luck!
