    1955 DDO

As neat as the 1909-S VDB is and as much as it conjures up terrific memories of childhood and collecting wheaties in an album, the 1955/55 is the quintessential cool coin of the bunch.

    1909-S VDB

I've needed an 09svdb since I started my cent collection (from circulation) in 1954.

55/55 would be nice but I need one coin to finish my non variety set.

    1909-S VDB

    I already have a 14-D.
The S- VDB started the whole Lincoln collecting fun. That will probably be my next Lincoln addition.
    I think about 55/55s a lot, though.
    09 if only adding 1.
If you judge it by my collection so far, though, 14-D is the answer.

The 55DD. An intriguing story of mistake and distribution of this fuzzy looking cent.

For the set 1914 D. The 55 it is for the varieties and not for the set. Two different ballgame

The 1909-S VDB. It was the big hole in my Whitman album as a child. It still fascinates today even though I have acquired one.

    1914-D

I like the 14-d. Too much hype surrounding the 09-s vdb and as cool as the 55ddo is, it's not part of the regular series.

1955 DDO. Two reasons. 1)You get "doubled" the coin. 2)You see double without having to drink to achieve that end.😵

The S-VDB and 55DDO were equally as epic and untouchable as a kid growing up. If I had to pick one, I'll go with the 55DDO.

The 55/55 is just too cool even though as a variety it is not really a part of the series. The SVDB and 14-D have no real cool factor, just high demand.

Part of it depends upon the grade. I took 1955 doubled die because it's much more exciting coin.

BUT I have seen cleaned up, scrubbed up examples that were dreck.

I bought this one many years ago with ANACS papers.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. 1922 No D. Almost 50 years ago I was asked to sell a picnic basket full of wheaties for a client. There were at least 15 1922 No Ds. The coins were worn; but, the dealer was delighted to get them saying he could run a Coin World ad featuring them.

    1955 DDO

Thanks Everyone... Like most, I started with Lincoln Cents and this was the first album I started... except for that one darn hole! I've had a couple of '09-S VDBs and a few lower grade 14-Ds but I've never owned a 55 DDO...

Finishing this album (with a proxy coin, of course) is my goal...

The S-VDBs are screaming cool, memories of childhood, our company namesake coin and all that, and the 55 DDOs are amazingly cool. But a lot of Lincoln collectors don't need a 55 DDO. Just about all of them want 1914-Ds. I'm basically talking about Mint State high-dollar coins which is mostly what we deal in and collect.

The 1909-S VDB has always been a storied, fantasy coin for me, ever since I was a child.

I don't collect copper but, if I did, this one would be the first on my list.

I love doubled dies, and in terms of notoriety, the 1955 DDO is probably the king of the non-overdate DDOs.

So that would be my choice.
