And the Oscar for the Most Secure Packaging goes to..............
Afternoon,
Don't get me wrong I am not against Safe, Secure, Bullet Proof packaging. It is a must for all of our collectibles! But...sometimes it just gets rediculous. And we wonder why the World sees us the USA as so wasteful:
Just received this today, One Graded Comic took all of this packaging! I see this a lot with Graded Comics as most ship in a Large Flat Rate Box which is way too big and the filling can be quite interesting. I have received packages padded with Socks (Clean), Underwear (Clean), Shirts, stacks of Chinese Restaurant Menus, Padded Envelopes (Those are nice, once got a Medium Flat Rate Box with 20+ Unused Brand New 00 Padded Envelopes), and you just about name it! Didn't have to buy Card Envelopes for a couple weeks. Haven't bought Bubble Wrap in years, reuse it all. I don't understand how some of these guys put 1/2 roll in one package!
What are some unusual Packaging you've received?
YeeHaw!

I get items wrapped in local newspapers from time to time. Kind of interesting…
I once saw a werewolf, with a Chinese menu in his hand, walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain. He was looking for the place called Li Ho Fuk’s; gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein.

Little old lady got mutilated late last night
(always loved that alliteration)
Before they started banning them, I saved my plastic bags from the grocery store for packing. Now that many have switched to paper, I have to save the dozens I have left for cleaning up the yard after the dog
I used to have that book, ungraded. Sold a couple years ago - seeing it again brings back some good memories.

It sucks when people abuse the free USPS padded envelopes and other supplies.
and.... when will duty update the avatar picture.. that 'best pic of my life so I'll use it everywhere' is like from 80 years ago right ? Balls enough to post an actual pic of oneself should require updating after 2 decades. heh heh
It stinks when the government takes and abuses our money as well.

It took 4 Presidents, unknown TRILLIONS of dollars and 20 years to replace the Taliban with............the Taliban.
Ever get a box from Heritage Auctions? Takes about an hour and a half to get to what's inside. I love secure packaging but they go way over the top.
Pwcc also used to ship securely.
I like comic books too just got this one.
You'd rather it had arrived with no padding at all, and a nice crack on some corner of the holder? I swear, you can't please some people. And what waste? Obviously, the packing material can be easily repurposed by yourself.
yours was secure, USPS machinery did this and the coin got a small scratch on the slab
What was the value of the book?
HOF SIGNED FOOTBALL RCS
If I remember correctly, that was a $40 Dollar Book. I have been concentrating recently in picking up as many low dollar 1960-80's CGC Graded Marvel and DC as I can get my hands on. I literally am picking up 9.0's, 9.2's, & 9.4's, and some 9.6's, for many times less than it cost for the Comic, let alone what it cost to Grade them as well.
1 Year ago I had Zero Graded Comics in my collection, today I just added number 127!
As an example the Tomb Of Dracula Comic pictured above, paid $40 for it in 9.0, Book would cost in the neighborhood of $30-$45 Raw in that condition. Then shipping from/to CGC, and $37.50 to Grade the Comic. Somebody was probably into that book for $75-$100! when I purchased, Shipping was $10, tax $2, so I am allin in the book at $53 or so.
I have picked up Graded 9.6's for as low as $9.99. And not some Independent crapola, but Mainstream Marvel and DC!
